I Missed Bush - Can someone break it down?
I've been more or less obsessed with the NBA playoff seedings for the past 24 hours, so I missed our illustrious leader's speech. Can someone break it down for me? Was it good? Was it bad? Was it better than you thought it would be?

Did he really have some "you're either with us or giving comfort to the enemy" line? Even for Bush that's pretty bad.

What did the pundits say?

Thx in advance.

JD

2. looked bad if you watched all of it, but local TV gave us SoundBite City
So most Americans never really got a sense of what was going on. All they see is the humble cowboy emoting honestly in a couple of 2 second clips. And that is just what bsuhco wants them to see. Some of the PBS commentators mentioned this--that Bushco is just looking for soundbit material. They do not that he looks bad if you consider it as a whole

12. Our local guy said Bush's response to the "apology" question was, simply..
... "The person responsible for the attacks was Osama bin Laden!"

He failed to mention that Bush rambled incoherently, almost looking scared, for an extended period, before latching on to that response. He stuttered and stammered haltingly, attempting to express sympathy for the families, and very defensively claimed that, again, if they had known it was going to happen, they would have done everything possible to stop it. DUH! THEN he came up with the "Osama's responsible" statement.

You have to watch Bush's entire press conferences to realize how little he says, and how badly he says it. Unfortunately, most people watch just the sound bites, and likely not even that.

This was a local anchor just quoting Bush, saying about the "apology" question: "Here's what Bush had to say about that: 'The person responsible for the attacks was Osama bin Laden!'"

Boy, if you didn't know better, you'd think Bush was coherent and quick on his feet! But watching his entire press conferences proves he's anything but.

11. OMG, is that what the tie really looked like!?
I'd heard about the tie, but thought it couldn't be THAT bad. Please tell me that's photoshopped.

I'm so glad I got rid of all the TVs except the 5" b&w (kept for just such occasions as this).

6. He called anti-war protestors racist
At one point he said "maybe some think brown skinned people can't live in a democracy. . .they are wrong" or something like that.

Now when Dean talks about confederate flag wavers he is an elitist but when bush says "brown skinned people" he is just a good ole boy?

7. ChoicePoint thinks brown-skinned people can't live in a democracy
that's why they purged thousands of them from the Florida voter rolls at the behest of Jeb! (the smart one in the family)

9. You Missed Something?
You know Shrub's modes:

1) 18 minutes of bored-boy Shrub reading something that bores him and everybody, something written by somebody else with "important" words in it.

2) Shrub with an earpiece, strange pauses and blank looks, supposedly answering without reading-------but without prompting?-----I think NOT!.

3) The poor-me little boy. My bad, but not my fault.

4) Once he's gotten a pass from the media and the country, who are too pained for this stunted being, the smart-ass jerk finds it safe to emerge.

Btw, Tweety and Howard the Duck FINEMAN claimed that, while not being sorry about anything and not taking responsibility for anything---still, somehow, he expressed "a new humility".

What did you miss?

15. BUSH TV -ALL IGNORANCE ALL THE TIME-"I DON'T READ"
Is "suicider" a word? Bush used this one last night and I can't find a single mention of it in any post-speech critique anywhere. Is it o.k. to actually make up new words now? I truly believe that Bush is in reality the first semi-literate President in modern times. And thanks for no mention of the environment, the economy, education, or health care. Is Iraq a "faith based initiative"? Why ARE Bush and Cheney appearing before the 9/11 Commission together? They weren't together last night? Karl Rove was there. Does Rove illustrate the definition of the word "porcine" better than any Republican, ever?
Are "security contractors" in Iraq just there for defense or are they really mercenaries? Are they a private Republican Halliburton army? Can their company be sued if they kill an Iraqi citizen?
