George Clooney defends his Dad in run for Congress...
http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/04/11/editorial_ed1v.html

Judge Dad, not me, in run for Congress

It's recently been brought to my attention that my father, Nick Clooney, has been running for Congress from the 4th District of Kentucky. Although he told me, I didn't really believe him until I started reading all the stories about myself in the paper.

It seems the best way to campaign against my father is to go after me. The head of the Kentucky 4th District GOP, Marcus Carey, is quoted in the Enquirer as saying that because of me, my father and I will "go down with my ship" - a reference to a film I made called The Perfect Storm.

I have two quick thoughts. First, it's probably not the best idea to use an actual event where six fishermen lost their lives as a lighthearted metaphor to hammer away at yours truly. For future insults, let me see if I can help.

It should go something like this: Batman and his father are gonna be taught The Facts of Life about Kentucky politics. The Peacemaker and his old man have been campaigning From Dusk Till Dawn to prove that a deficit that's Out of Sight can hurt your paycheck. O Brother, next they'll tell us that it would be Intolerable Cruelty to send patients away if they can't afford services in the E.R.

<more>

Good stuff...

6. Sure...
.. it's perfectly all right that Herr Arnie's dad was a friggin' Nazi and that the grandfather of the current Thief-in-Residence, Prescott Bush, made a fortune dealing with the Third Reich, but heaven forbid Nick Clooney's son is an actor.... like another two-term GOP Prez we all know.

The GOP -- what a bunch of friggin' hypocrites.

2. The GOP will probably damage themselves in Kentucky with this one
Rosemary Clooney was very loved in Kentucky, especially around her home town and was quite generous to the community where she grew up after she made it...

7. The bio line is great
"George Clooney, formerly of Augusta, Ky., is Nick Clooney's son and was president of the Augusta Independent High School Science Club in 1978-79."

9. ...Correct me if I'm wrong, but...
I don't know of any scandal hanging over George Clooney's head. He's just a very successful well known and extremely dishy movie actor...so why in the world would the fact that Nick is his dad have any bearing at all on the man's congressional race? Sure, George has occasionally (and wittily) offered some "Liberal" opinions on politics...oh...er...I get it now. Witty, handsome, rich and Liberal automatically makes you the Spawn of Satan.
I hope Nick blows the doors off the competition in November.

11. George Clooney is a very strong Democrat and supporter.
And has been very critical of the chimp!

Always great to see a strong Democrat...

What the fuck is wrong with Hooper a Republican, turned greedy, thinks he's going to lose his money or believes all George Bullshit lies about being tough on terrorist?
