Jerry not running is great news
Why aren't more people here urging Sherrod Brown to run. He's way more appealing and has done more than Fingerhut

1. Sherrod Brown rules!!!!
I'm 100% behind Brown if he runs. Why isn't he? He's an all-around fantastic guy, has been involved in state politics for, like, ever, and when he chartered a bus to take Buckeye Seniors to Canada to fill their prescriptions, I became his biggest fan.

Run, Sherrod, Run,
Jennifer in Cincinnati

2. Why would Sherrod Brown risk his seat?
He's got seniority and his district is rock solid. If he was going to give that up, it would have to be a sure thing. And beating Voinovich is definitely not a sure thing. In fact, it would be incredibly hard.

5. Can't run for both
If he runs for the Senate he can't run for his Rep. seat at the same time. One or the other. Besides, he'd be much better off challenging Dewine in 06 or running for Governor.

4. The GOPs gerrymandered all the Dems into 6 north & east Ohio districts
That made Brown's seat even safer, but enabled the GOOPs to be marginally over 50% in the other 11 seats. The GOOPs set up Brown into a "safe seat" to keep him from running state wide, where he was a definite threat.

Brown announced last year that he would not run for Senate. Now we have to settle for Mr. Niceguy Eric Fingerhut, a rather bland candidate.
