I'm Sick Of The Fucking "Appeasement" Argument!!!!
Edited on Sun Apr-11-04 12:25 AM by TheWizardOfMudd
The moronic Freepers who make this argument bring up Chamberlain as a comparison to the sane people who point out that the Iraq war is a mistake and a diversion from the "war on terror."

THAT IS SUCH BULLSHIT!

Chamberlain attempted to "appease" Hitler by giving him territory that he wanted. What does that have to do with whether or not invading, overthrowing, and installing a new government in Iraq was the proper way to proceed after 9/11 and invading Afghanistan? Answer: NOTHING.

Appeasement would have been giving Kuwait to Hussein when he invaded. Nobody really wanted to do that. There are no "appeasers."

The Iraq war is imperialism, pure and simple. Any person who argues that being against what America is doing in Iraq is an "appeaser" is a liar and an IDIOT!

2. Ignore the freepers.
A lot of them still think that Iraq was responsible for 9/11. They are deeply confused.

3. I believe that Chamerlain wasn't so much trying to appease...
as he was trying to steer the Germans toward the East. Of course he got them pointed right back at him by the Russo-German peace pact in 1939.

4. Bremer wins the chamberlain award
I mean his everything in iraq is lovely speech last week about the great economy there that he sees as he drives around the country and how the little probelms the news reports all so overblown.

Just like poor neville and his " I have in my hand a piece of paper from mr hitler that says all he wants is peace"

sing with me - a little piece of poland, a little piece of france.

of course that brings up the other arguement that it is bush who wants a little piece of oil from iraq, a little bit of fossil fuels from iran.

5. Bush is weak on terror and has appeased osama by
1) removing American troops and base from Saudi Arabia
2) Allowing himself to be blackmailed by Pakistan
3)outing a CIA NOC who ran a clandestine worldwide
network of agents working to Keep WMD out of terrorist hands .
4)implementing the PATRIOT ACT, making Freedom and
our Constitution second for an illusion of Security
5)underfunded Border security
6)3 percent of cargo coming in from foreign countries is checked .
7) left the States to fend for themselves with the extra cost
of tighter security by cutting taxes while we are at WAR.
8)Alienating the United States from virtually all peoples
of the world .
9)bush played right into osama rhetoric by invading Iraq
thus creating more terrorists.
10)playing up the fear factor upon citizens to implement
policies dreamed up long before 911 .

6. Rest of world is wondering if it should appease the USA.
That is, embarassingly, a much better comparison of todays politics compared to Chamberlains time.

At Munich Hitler demanded that the rest of the world rubber stamp his invasion of Czechoslovakia. At the UN Bush demanded that the rest of the world rubber stamp his invasion of Iraq. How ironic that France takes the brunt of the criticism for refusing to appease the United States.

When freepers talk about appeasement, they are looking in the wrong direction.

7. Wizard you are completely correct.
The true appeasers and counterparts of Neville Chamberlain here are the so called "Democrats" who appeased George Bush Jr, the grandson of Hitler's banker.

The card carrying PNAC'er who works out of the DLC's head office refers to these people as Blair democrats. Considering that Blair was the heir to Chamberlain as Junior is the heir to Adolf, it is NOT a name anyone should be proud of.

8. Point out to them that the REAL appeasers here are those in the
republi-CON party and the media who did nothing but wall-to-wall appeasement of the bushies from the moment they first set foot on the national scene - during Campaign 2000. NOTHING BUT APPEASEMENT from start to finish! It's still going on, now. THEY, not we, are the appeasers.
