Damn it all, anyway - The Sequel
Having refrained from posting in recent weeks, I am appalled at the attitude I am hearing here today, implying that just because Condi Rice is testifying, all other subjects are no longer important or are distractions from what's "really" important. Besides being condescending, it's incorrect.

What a ridiculous notion! Perspective is important, but what are we fighting for, if not for the core values of the Democratic party? I resent anyone trying to make me feel bad for still considering feminism, homophobia and sensitivity to my fellow human beings important. I don't know about you, but for me, that's what it's all about.

So you'll excuse me, but I'll continue to blather on about my feminist beliefs, rail on about homophobia and continue to rate the importance of events based on how I see them, rather than on what I'm told by a paternalistic voice speaking as if from above, but who is really just typing alone on his computer just like I am.

-peace-

9. With all due respect...
the tyranny of the majority shouldn't compel her to comply with a line of thinking she disagrees with.

It's not like I just started thinking about feminism, homophobia, civility, or the debacle of Dr. Rice and 9/11... today.
Thanks! :hi:

edit: needed it.

10. All these issues are important
And discussion of these issues is important. Unfortunately some members appear to be using them to try to drive a deliberate wedge down the middle of the message board. We have had a rash of threads lately about people's perceptions of bigotry, and while the original intent may have been noble, for the most part these threads are now doing nothing to further people's understanding of these issues, but they are certainly serving to alienate and divide.

That said, I'm afraid I'm going to lock this before it turns into yet another massive flame war. My apologies. We do take these issues seriously, and we will continue to work to make sure DU remains a safe place for progressives.
