Needed: information on Nixon's "Operation Star" re: suspending elections
from

http://www.skolnicksreport.com/ootar9.html

"In 1972, the CIA/Military think tank, Rand Corp., came out with their little-known report, "Operation Star", at the behest of the Nixon WhiteHouse. The document deals with how to persuade ordinary Americans that it is somehow okay to suspend the U.S. Constitution and call off if not terminate elections. That is, how to conduct a coup against the American Republic and the organic law, that is, the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. By the fall of 1973, after "The Saturday Night Massacre" where Nixon lopped off those probing him and Watergate, the U.S. came very closeto a test if not actual imposition of martial law."

Anybody got other sources on this?

Thanks in advance.

1. Nightline touched on similar. They're softening us up.
I'm not kidding...this goes right along with what Skolnick says. Rush is talking about it, from what I understand Hannity is talking about it, Nightline talked about it last night. Getting us ready, thinking about it. On Nightline they went so far as to try to explain how a congress could just get in the way in the case of emergency, and therefore a suspension of the Constitution would help America cope.

I fear this is real. They are going to try this shit. Nixon...er, ah...Bush cannot win. Not with the polling he's doing, and no amount of good job news will change the way things are going to him. So if Diebold can't deliver, which appears increasingly likely due to the widening gap in Polls vs. Reality, then they'll have to resort to Plan B to hold on to power and protect the investments of his campaign contributors. A catastrophic attack or something else to provide cover. Check out the Nightline link from last night. It was about the Secret Government. Another scary eye-opener.

2. Is this related to the Nixon=era "Huston Plan?"
plan drawn up by Nixon aide to respond to out-of-control demonstrations, sit-ins, work stoppages (Nixon to decide when to implement).
Involved packing sports stadiums with arrested demonstrators, whether they've broken the law or not, picking up undesirables, controlsover media, etc.

Nixon administration adopted it through a secret presidential directive, then backed off after it became public and the public went nuts.

One can be certain the Huston Plan blueprint is still available in the White House.....

6. CS Monitor article says it was a rumor in 72, but it isn't true
But it is a book review

http://www.csmonitor.com/2003/1009/p15s02-bogn.htm

Two years after Richard Nixon became the 37th president of the United States, rumors began circulating that he planned to cancel the 1972 election. Regional newspapers such as The Oregonian, in Portland, reported that the RAND Corp. had been commissioned by the Oval Office to determine whether "rebellious factions using force or bomb threats would make it unsafe to hold an election." Soon people were hearing denials from Attorney General John Mitchell and Vice President Spiro Agnew.

The fact that those two were telling the truth and that the 1972 election happened doesn't detract from the significance of the story, according to historian David Greenberg. "While itself fictional," he writes, "the canceled-election rumor sprang from an accurate sense that Nixon was willing to push democracy's limits. The rumor had a literary, if not literal, integrity."

7. What about Reagan's order?
I remembered reading something about Reagan and Martial Law a while back, so I did a Google and found the article. :)

http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2002/07/27/1027497418339.html

"Recent pronouncements from the Bush Administration and national security initiatives put in place in the Reagan era could see internment camps and martial law in the United States."
<snip>
"Disturbingly, the full facts and final contents of Mr Reagan's national plan remain uncertain. This is in part because President Bush took the unusual step of sealing the Reagan presidential papers last November."
<snip>

Does anyone know anything more about this? Did Reagan's order include suspending elections?
