I rolled past Rush on the dial and he was finishing a rant about Dodd making racist comments... Anybody know anything?

1. He said something about Byrd

He said that Byrd would have been a great senator at any time in US history, including during the Civil War (Byrd is a CW buff...)

I'm not sure how racist came into it, but the Fright Wing seems to have twisted the fact that Byrd was once in the Klan to mean that Dodd is racist.

Dodd said nice things about Senator Byrds 4 hundred trillion speechs given on the floor of the Senate. He did not say he wished byrd had been elected president and brought his brand of KKK hatred to the seat of power of the united states which lott did when chatting about thurmond. More unfounded right wing nonsense. The independent thinking lemmings, however, will do their job. Spread the poison wherever they slither. limbaugh may back in the news soon, something about a felony related to drugs. Sure, Senator Dodd's comments must be analyzed.

7. Apparently, Dodd said something (at a celebration for Byrd) to

the effect that Byrd would have been a great leader during the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, during the Civil Rights movement, blah, blah...oops Byrd was KKK as a young man. The repugs want to compare it to Trent Lott's statement(s)about Strom Thurmond. It's pretty obvious that Dodd was just being a little...well, dotty, but the RW idiots think they have a bone so they will chew to pieces during these otherwise troubling times.

Of course, Lott was deep-sixed by the WH, not the dems, but it is much more fun for them to feign weepy outrage.
