Bush Cracking Up -- Unbelievable GWB Footage On Daily Show!
Holy cow!! I was really shocked at the tape they showed of GWB last night on Daily Show, did anybody see it?

The painful stammering over the June 30th deadline was classic GWB "strong & steady" material, but the weird giggling when refering to the fighting in Iraq THAT WAS TRULY BIZARRE!

GWB is looking more and more like Tony Perkins in "Psycho." No wonder he needs Uncle Dick to hold his hand in front of the commissioners.

I'm starting to really think he won't make it through the campaign without literally cracking up. He's not up to this, he's not up to even FAKING this, and it must be becoming painfully aware to his handlers. Can you imagine the fevered meetings the puppeteers are having right now?

6. I didn't see the Daily Show
but I believe he is facing the reality of how much trouble his administration is in right now. I don't believe he can handle it. His high numbers in the polls for the past few years are history and perhaps he realizes that the public has fallen out of love for him.

I really believe he has a very fragile ego and his arrogance and superiority are only a cover for his insecurity. Therefore, his lack of approval from the public is devastating to him, imo.

22. I think this is what will happen too, because
look how there were SO MANY people trying to tell them going into Iraq the way they did was nuts, but they did it in that way anyway. Military people, intelligence, NGOs, even Colin Powell and the State Department tried to get them to do it a more sane way before he caved in to them. Brent Scowcroft, Bush Sr's partner, even warned them.

But they acted like ideological fanatics and did the whole thing in a crazy way. Or maybe they believe in deliberate chaos. Either way, it's out of control and crazy. But at every step they have refused to listen to any reason. So they will probably implode at some point. And take who knows how many people down with them.

May I add that I think (JMO, of course) that his utter lack of tools to deal with the breakdown of his phony-to-begin-with-but-usually-successful modus operandi is leaving him particularly bereft.

Not that I give a shit about that, of course.

8. Yeah, I saw it -- and was reminded of how psychotic he really is
I mean, anybody who is showing such obvious glee at the prospect of insurgents "testing our will" (translated: US service members facing increasing attacks and casualties) as the June 30 "deadline" approaches is not playing with a full deck.

I was glad that Stewart not only showed that clip, but followed it up with a statement that it was not exactly "comedic" material -- because it helps highlight that the man with whom we're dealing exhibits classic psychotic tendencies. When he says things like this, and also recalling his mocking of Karla Faye Tucker's pleas for clemency, it helps highlight his complete lack of empathy or consideration of others.

9. Hate to say this...
...but you won't see him like that too often.

It is the product of him facing the press unscripted and unprepared. I saw it - he was downright goofy - spouting absolutely nonsensical gibberish and laughing inappropriately.

But that is why the zookeepers rarely let him out without lots and lots of practice. They'll probably show him the clip over and over and withold the banana.

Seriously, he is rarely that unscripted. Bet those reporters lose their passes.

I truly believe that he enjoys the thought of people dying. look at his "jokes" about that murdering born again woman in Texas. The only time I saw his show any genuine emotion during the "debates" in 2000 was when he talked about the men sentenced to death for killing James Byrd.

39. Yep
I happen to agree with you. The sociopathic personality is utterly incapable of empathizing with the situation of anyone else. They also are often very good at manipulating systems to get what they want -- because they have no moral compass whatsoever. Or, I should say, no compass other than, "If I do this, I might get caught and that would be bad."

In other words, the sociopath has no particular sense that certain acts are inherently right or wrong -- and that's sufficient reason to act or not.

Moreover, suffering only matters if it's happening to the sociopath, because emotionally they've never developed beyond the infantile "I'm the center of the universe" stage.

The guy occupying the White House clearly places no moral value on human life -- save his own. He also has no sense of personal responsibility for anything, because he's never been held liable for even the biggest of his blunders as faux businessman and later, figurehead politician.

It's not for politics alone that Shrub has chosen not to attend a single military funeral. To face, up close, the death of another person due to his orders (and his lies) would bring along with it thoughts of personal mortality, and he simply can't have that.

53. Hi, welcome, question for you, Technowitch.
I'm in complete agreement with you. I'd like to know what you think about the people AROUND Bush. Do you think they're sociopaths, too? I always view Bush as a different type from his consiglieri, but, on the other hand, I'm always befuddled by the enabling of a sociopathic personality by the rest of them. It seems that they also lack the moral compass, sense of responsibility, understanding of the idea of right and wrong, though they are (seemingly) at least a little more intelligent and "in the real world" than Bush.

Do you have any theories that account for this group indifference to others and to right and wrong?

Again, welcome!

http://www.guardian.co.uk/usa/story/0,12271,1033904,00.html

called 'So George, How Do You Feel About Your Mom and Dad?'

Details on how he was abused by his mother, shamed for mourning the death of his sister, shadowed by his father.

He became a self-destructive cruel anti-intellectual alcoholic and authoritarian personality who embraced the Taliban version of Christianity and is still a dry drunk.

He might self-destruct under the building criticism and possible impeachment. He could get even more people killed if his handlers can't sufficiently medicate and shield him.

Immediately after Iraq launched SCUD's against Israel in GW1, Israel launched a retaliatory airstrike and demanded Coalition IFF codes for its aircraft.

It was the biggest crisis of the war.

CNN aired Poppy's response live.

It was the most frightening thing I had ever seen - he was COMPLETELY incoherent and acted totally insane.

Luckily, others has the sense to carry on without him and defused the crisis.

25. This is exactly why they want to limit/eliminate debates; Chimpy can
barely speak English, and has no conscience whatsoever; thus, he is bound to say some really ludicrous things with a completely inappropriate attitude or expression.
He'd probably tell dirty jokes at a funeral, or brag about sleeping with the bride at a wedding (but it'd be a lie, of course.)
It WAS fun though, watching him stammer his way through a sentence...it'd be hilarious were not the implications of his gross stupidity so profoundly disastrous.

http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/weekly/aapr_amblingintohistory.htm

In a series of revealing anecdotes, Bush is seen playing "peek-a-boo" with a hot airplane towel over his head during an interview, flashing goofy expressions to reporters while at a funeral for victims of a church shooting, and mimicking the Dr. Evil character in the Austin Powers films by lifting his pinkie to the corner of his mouth.

28. Saw it too--my theory:
re the laughing and grinning about the fighting in Iraq:

I think that's the body language of the sociopath. It's an unconscious device (unless someone once told him that smiling would get him out trouble). The big shit-eating grin when talking about a horrible subject is an attempt to avoid consequences; he knows he's responsible for all this carnage, so he puts on that smile to make himself and others 'lighten up' about it. I've seen him do it many times before, just never so incongruously. It only goes so far--when used carelessly, people begin to notice that his public emotion is severely out of step with reality.

The babbling about the June 30 deadline was just typical inability to focus and a basic lack of understanding of his own alleged policy. That part is simple: he's not really running the show, so without the script, he's lost.

Also, John Stewart's reaction was savagely understated, as always!

I hate to say this, but nothing he does surprises me anymore.

Everything is a game to him. He could care less about what's happening to civilians or soldiers in Iraq or Afghanistan, just like he could've cared less about 9/11. As long as he gets to be the quasi president and crack jokes about WMD and go quail hunting or play golf or get to deem which reporters are worthy of having lunch with him after a press conference, he's a happy camper.
