Why has the discussion turned to baseball around here?
Where is all the Democratic disgust over what's happening in Iraq right now? What about Fallujah, all? Shouldn't we, as Democrats, be denouncing this illegal war and using what happened in Fallujah the other day, and in the Iraqi capital today, as case in point this war is wrong. I mean, after all, we're the invaders and they're the defenders. Under the Geneva Conventions, the worst of all crimes is the launching of an agressive war, as it encompasses so many other crimes. International law was established for good reason, and with great attention to the human experiences of the first half of the 20th century.

So many of you are just content talking about baseball. You're acting as though our democratic nominee has endorsed the illegal war...oh wait. Is there some connection between the fact that John Kerry has repeatedly publicly stated that MORE FORCE is needed in Iraq and there being virtually no discussion of withdrawal neither here or in the mainstream media? Well the connection is obvious, though many of you certainly didn't 'decide' to stop talking about it. The media sets the tone, and people act accordingly, right? And we're supposed to show our undaunted support of John Kerry, right?

Well Iraq still makes me sick, regardless of what John Kerry thinks. And if he doesn't start talking some sense on the issue, soon he'll make me sick too. And I don't vote for politicians who make me sick.

This war is filthy.

3. You're pissed about the war, yes
But dont blame DUers for something as innocent as talking about baseball on opening day. Everyone here in this big room is against the war.

5. What can you do?
The war is a big issue for me and it's the one reason why I'm not thrilled with Kerry as some people are. The voters have spoken and I don't buy that bit about the media swaying the vote. I think the average Dem voter wanted a hawk because they perceived an anti-war Dem as being unelectable. Also, don't forget that according to most polls around 70% of the public agreed with the war. I'm sure there were a lot of Dems in that number. Most people don't agree with pulling the troops out of Iraq and it suits them that Kerry is rather hawkish on the issue.

It may not be what you and I perceive to be the right thing to do, but it's what most Americans want that counts. Unfortunately, that's the way politics works. In so many cases it's what is the popular thing to do rather than the right thing.

6. Tired of "talking" about it...
Edited on Sun Apr-04-04 09:09 PM by PaDUer
ACTIONS speak louder than words. It's time to STOP talking about it and do something about it..We've been "talking" about it from day one.

-edit-We'd make great politicians--lip service.
