Daily Kos a blank white page
I went to dKos this morning and all that comes up is a balnk white page...

I really hope that this is just a temporary glitch and not the final act in the ultimate over reaction by liberals to a revenge attack by wingnuts on one of our best blogs...

If everythings ok....I am glad, if in fact Kos has been taken out....

This is on the head of all of those supposed lefties who failed to rally around one of our own when he exercised his constitutional right of free speech.....

let's hope it's just a glitch!

4. Links to pages other than the homre page are returning 404 errors
It could be a server problem, a software problem, or hacking. No way to tell.

5. Truthout was hacked
Kos was too. $ 170,000,000 buys a lot of out of work hackers. (perhaps 308,000 of them?)

9. how come we don't have any excellent left-wing hackers here?
We need our own hackers to hack freerepublic.com, instapundit.com, and the Bush website.

11. But That Would Be Illegal
Hacking is a crime. Hacking a Republican website might be counterproductive anyhow.

...they'll say they did it as a form of religious protest or some other such nonsense.

6. For me, so is FreeRepublic
That's the good news. Kos may be retooling something; he's had glitches (although not completely blank pages) before, that appeared before the page was updated. Let's hope that's all that is. As for the freepers, they've been dead for me for nearly a week.

15. Talking About Over Reaction.
Freeperland has a Kos hating thread so someone probably took the initiative and hacked his site.

And I refuse to ignore a completely callous and insensitive remark.

Honestly, it's like those parents who refuse to dicipline or hold their kids responsible for inappropriate behvior.

Saw the same thing many times among Dean supporters.

Hacking is wrong.

Kos can say whatever he wants.

All our actions have consequences... hacking is illegal and callous words can turn people off.

17. You post is confusing..
are you saying the freepers are over reacting for hacking him

I am for being angry about the reaction from many who possibly never even read what Kos posted before flying off the handle and falling prey to wingnut tactics...(reminds me of the time Kerry supporters defended Kerry's refusal to say anything about the comments Fritz Hollings made during the primary :eyes:)

or both....

24. Main Point- There Are Consequences To What We Do
Like Freepers who hack liberal websites for any reason and hopefully get caught.

And Kos, who made a terrible and callous remark on his very popular and excellent blog and had some people calling him on it.

Certainly Daily Kos will be back up and running in a day or two.

Noone asks for bloggers to be toothless or bland. But being mean-spirited is corrosive. Hopefully, he'll measure his words a bit more.

IMO, the Kos statement was over-the- line mean and insensitive... I was troubled by some of what was being posted here on DU last week. :(

But maybe there's so much pent up anger and resentment right now... it's getting harder to manage it.

It was for a server change over:

Sorry about the brief downtime. It was not a vast right-wing conspiracy, merely a server administration error during the changeover.
Welcome to the new, more powerful than ever, dailykos server cluster. The place should be quite a bit speedier, assuming we haven't made any other mistakes. If you see anything weird, please let us know. There's always something else to forget when you move a big site like this.

whew.....Kos is one of my main daily got to sites....I would have been pissed!!!!!!!!!!

25. Got the numeric address?
It's not back up here, perhaps because the DNS update is still filtering through. I'll do some investigating now...

OK, back up, but looks like it'll take a day or so for everybody to get the DNS update to their Internet Service Providers (ISPs). (Oh how I wish amateur web sites knew how to do clean cutovers. It really isn't hard.)
