Suicide bombing in Spain
Blast in Spain kills officer, 3 terrorism suspects
Interior minister Acebes: Suspect chanted in Arabic as they died
From Al Goodman
CNN Madrid Bureau Chief
Saturday, April 3, 2004 Posted: 6:56 PM EST (2356 GMT)

MADRID, Spain (CNN) -- A Spanish policeman was killed and 11 others injured when three suspected terrorists blew themselves up as police were closing in on them, Spanish Interior Minister Angel Acebes said.

Acebes said the suspects chanted in Arabic as they set off the explosion, which ripped through an apartment block, blowing out walls and windows.

Police were entering the building to search for suspects who may be linked to the Madrid commuter train bombings of March 11, a reporter from CNN partner station CNN+ said.

The explosion, in a four-story building in Leganes, a suburb about 10 miles south of Madrid, happened at 9 p.m. (2 p.m. ET).

1. The world is MUCH safer thanks to the war on terror
Now with terrorist attacks happening in Spain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and the Phillipines since Bush declared war on terrorism it really seems that the world is much safer.
NOT!

2. I heard about this from my Colombian mother in law... icky stuff.
Shame too. Glad regular criminals don't do this more often.

3. Doesnt this refute the notion ...
That the Spanish electorate 'appeased' the "turrests" by voting Aznar out of office ? ...

Spain is NOT safer for voting Aznar out of office, so the whole notion that the average spanish voter was trying to mollify and please Al Qaeda is utter rubbish ...

Aznar was voted out because his POLICIES, which paralleled those of Bush, were disliked by the spaniards, NOT because Spain was trying to buy safety from terrorists through appeasement ...

Yet more of the nonsensical rhetoric of the right crashes and burns on the rocks of truth ...
