CNN had a big scoop on Euro Disney just about dead
Edited on Thu Aug-07-03 09:26 AM by dArKeR
They threw out 10 reasons why the bottom line, ticket sales, are terrible, near bankruptcy. Especially the last 3 months. Decline in dollars, travel, bla bla bla...

CNN covered every possible reason except, 'Maybe the Europeans are boycotting America!'

1. That's too bad. Euro Disney is exponentially better than Orlando.
Not nearly as hot or crowded. I hope it will recover (whatever the reasons it is ailing).

4. uh, I think the fact it isn't crowded
is part of the problem, no?

actually Euro-Disney was doing ok in the late 90's. guess the repeat visits haven't come through.

10. I"ve just talked to my French friend on the phone. He said
'the repeats aren't there'. And he doesn't think it's a boycott America thing. He said no new rides since it's opened, (he thinks).

19. The only people who go to disneyland in FRANCE are AMERICANS
and japanese.

Go figure. Here's American Logic (and ya wonder why the french laugh at us):

"Let's spend a few thousand bucks to go to france and spend 2 days in DISNEYLAND!"

Gee, aren't there TWO of them in the USA?

Doesn't France, especially Paris, have truly some of the most notable and astonishing landmarks and sites for 'seeing' on the planet? Nah, the american way is to go buy horridly over-priced canned entertainment that someone has thought out for you, in the best-marketed plan possible, geared towards making you buy MORE tee shirts.

Oh wait, I forgot, Americans would rather go to walmart than spend time in Yosemite.

never mind!

5. Nothing would make repukes happier than see Disney close the park.
They HATE Disney because one of its subsidiaries is supporting Michael Moore's next film. HATE is actually too mild a term. They would love to see Disney go under.

6. Euro Disney has not done well since it opened...
they arent as enamored with the concept as Americans are. * and the war and the dollar aren't helping.

7. Again, that is all sweet, sweet music to republican ears.
The less money Disney has, the less money it can spend on promoting anti-Bush films.

11. Characterizing Disney as a promoter of "anti-Bush films" is a big stretch.
You're making them out to sound like something they're not, IMO.

12. Well, there goes my Disney stock down the drain, again.
Sigh. I don't own a lot, but with the stock market the way it's been since Gee!Dubya started opening his big incoherent mouth, I might as well paper my computer nitch with the stock certificates.

13. Don't buy stocks that can be "talked down".
Stick with companies that have the ability to grow cash flows 15+ %year after year after year. These stocks will be immune from a president "opening his big incoherent mouth".

21. You should have sold that 4 years ago.
No offense.

Check SBL. Far better, mid term and long range profits.
