Do you think that Kerry will work to get us off of Oil?
On Kerry's campaign page, he talks about a plan to get us off of foreign oil by 2020. We will work on renewable energy and eventually end up on hydrogen fuel cells. I would cheer to see this day come. Should He be elected, I would like to see us work towards an end of our dependence on OPEC while gas prices skyrocket and we pollute our air and line the pockets of countries that hate us.

1. If there weren't two old oilmen in the White House
it would be perfectly obvious that fossil fuel is
1. running out, (less than 50 year supply left),
2. damaging the planet, and
3. forcing us to deal with the thugs and dictators who control supply.
Kerry has said that he would invest in fuel alternatives and that it would create jobs. It should; we should have many of our best and brightest working on finding a source of energy that is renewable and non toxic to the planet. It's reached the tipping point, just as when the only people who denied the connection between smoking and cancer, emphysema, etc worked for the tobacco companies. The only people who believe that petro fuels are good for our future work for oil companies or have "oil in their blood."

2. research is key
and anything to reduce dependence is great. Pres. Carter did a bunch of research because of the crisis but I heard Reagan cut the funding and destroyed the records. Times were good after that so they didn't worry about research. Kerry is on the right track.

7. Who was Reagan's Vice-President?
Oh yeah, George "Poppy" Bush. Indeed, they did away with the Dept. of Energy and things like solar cell research. Way too much money to be made with a cheap oil US energy policy.

"Morning in America" has turned to "Evening in America".....and the same people who set us up for endless war for oil are still running the show.

5. After staving off relentless attacks
from the pod people, he might have a minute or two to look at the energy situation. First order of business for repugs when Kerry wins will be to paralyze his ability to do anything.

9. Didn't you see Kerry attacking Bush for high oil prices?
To me that says he will fully support our occupation of Iraq and is pretty unwilling to talk about peak oil.
