New pictures at Elena's Chernobyl . Com
Edited on Fri Mar-26-04 05:53 PM by trumad
The young lady who journeys through Chernobyl on Motorcycle has updated her page with a bunch of new Pictures. I have mirrored her site and I am now hosting it as well. I finally had contact with her and she is pleased that she won't have to rely on Angelfire to keep her info on the net.

If you haven't seen this page before it's well worth the look.

2. Wow. I had no idea what the area looked like. Thanks.
I have visited Kiev and talked to people. Seems they have a lot of health problems there too. It's a shame.

10. They didn't.
People have a habit of blaming every death in the Ukraine on Chernobyl. Actually people have been dying in the Ukraine for thousands of years.

11. outstanding photo essay
I've now seen both the earlier and new versions, and have
shown them to my loved ones. Her (and your) work is outstanding
and you have my best complements.

This humanzes an issue which is "soviet" in too many people's thinking... not realizeing that they themselves might very well
face similar concerns....

i live 12 linear miles from a decomissioning nuclear reactor.

It could be my house that is one of those empty places.. and this
keyboard with 20 years of dust on it, myself long dead from
radiation.

peace and best wishes to you and the motorcycle lady.

12. Trumad, thank you for posting this.
25 years ago, about this time, I took my two very small children and left home because of Three Mile Island. These pictures remind me of what were were fearing at that time, and what I believe could still happen here.

That event was the beginning of my real abiding interest in politics. We had gone to the country and were planning to life a simple life away from the madness of modern society. Three Mile Island taught me that there is no way anyone in this world can escape it. You have to stand up and join in.
