I'm starting to give up hope...
Seriously, I'm really starting to think that there's no way in hell we're going to be able to stop The Bush Crime Family. They've got the media, our gullible masses, an uneffective opposition, the house and the senate, and soon the courts. I really think this bastard is going to win, I've given up all hope, please convince me I'm wrong.

are ...shall we say...bizarre?

Body bags are coming home in large numbers, there are no weapons, Saddam and Osama are sunning on a beach somewhere, the economy is in the toilet....and you think it will be difficult to win???

9. You give a lot of citizens more credit than they deserve...
because other than the people that post to DU and Smirking Chimp, I think most people in the US will buy anything the White House says hook, line and sinker or simply doesn't care. I'm that pessimistic. Then again, maybe it's because I ran out of Zoloft.

26. Maybe that would've been like what you said in Canada...
...but you forget that this is the USA and the people are idiots who let the president (or Rush Limbaugh or their church) do their thinking for them. I mean, we're talking about a people that almost elected a stupid cowboy who ran against peace and prosperity, so you can't give them so much credit...

Dean at meetup.com 70,000, Bush 2 or 3. Join us! By the way the right wingers do control the High Court. The good news is that moderates prevail at times and man have we been lucky (e.g. Souter, Stevens).

4. Relax, their plan is crumbling daily
Support for the doofus is waning. By the time the election rolls around, absolutely EVERYONE is going to hate him. And he can't really take being hated, so he'll implode more and more as his support system makes itself scarce (no one will want to be associated with him and his terrible legacy). Maybe it will be more dyslexic missteps such as using the wrong word in a speech (like he did in that speech overseas, saying something that was opposite what he meant to say, which made that market go crashing down). Or maybe it will just be the crappy economy. Or all of the above.

He will look like the class A failure we all know he is.

The gullible masses take awhile to turn, and they've started to. By time they're against him he won't have a chance in hell to get them turned back.

5. Someone once said that "it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how
you play the game that counts". I think this is true of anything. Not trying to defeat the current bunch of thugs running this country is the same as lying down and letting it happen. You then become an accomplice to their atrocities.

Contrary to what some people may think (and this has been pointed out over and over in DU)life was NEVER meant to be safe. Even a microbe so small that you have to magnify it a thousand times has the power to wipe out thousands. Life was NEVER meant to be comfortable. The true test of character is what you do when the situation becomes difficult, even threatening.

6. When the going gets tough, the BFEE
revs up their media whores.

To date, the bushies have been able to paint their opposition with a broad brush. That has changed. Think back only a few months ago when they were dismissive of EVERYTHING anti-bush and the press went along. Well, Ari announced, what, a MONTH ago that the yellowcake story was "over." NOT.

The good guys are making inroads. The repigs will meet that attack with an equal or greater attack. A large part of that is to be dismissive and act like nothing is out of line, that it's a mountain being made out of a molehill. Yet, their constant back-pedalling, admitting they're going on the offensive, throwing up various fall guys, fanning the worries of more terror attacks, etc, are obviously attention deflectors. And this time, people aren't buying it - not the press, not the public, and certainly not the military and their families. Look what is out in the open now compared to 6 months ago - the illegal war and the lies that brought it on, the Saudi/bush connection, the rigged voting machines, and on and on.

Carpe diem!

Keep the faith, baby!

8. NEVER GIVE UP HOPE!!!
Things are getting worse and worse every day for the BFEE.

Yes they are the most corrupt and evil presidency in history (see what Hollings said today?)

But the will oif the American people is WAAAAAYYYY stronger than the BFEE.

They will ultimately be defeated.

Gore's return to the limelight this thursday will make a huge difference. Folks like Dean and even Graham are speaking out against Bush and therfore...

There is a lot of hope to embrace.

I myself want Gore back in the race and feel that will energize us all (especially if he were to bring Dean in as his VP)

Bush will go down in flames in 2004 and we will be reenergized.

Coming from the Sixties I fully understand the meaning of the expression "Keep the Faith, Baby"

It will get better.

Just the energy and intelligence and activism at DU should tell you that things are changing big time.

So hang in there and NEVER give up hope!!!

11. Given enough rope this idiot is going to hand himself. It looks now.......
....like everything is falling in Bush's lap but I suggest you hang in there just a little longer. There is a seething anger out there in Middle America over Bush sending us to war on faulty trumped up evidence and that anger is growing as more and more people are put out of work.

It used to be that the "manual labor" force were the ones to loose everything but now whole families are becoming homeless.

I realize there is nothing I can say to convince you but I am seeing and hearing it more and more these days, everywhere I go.

how much I can't believe we are living like we are now. I think back to the Clinton years, and although everything wasn't perfect, it felt like we were at least heading in the right direction.

How long into the future do you think we can go from one extreme to to the other?

16. flashback to the war protests
Just the one in Chicago (my old turf, ok, only for 2 months, but STILL! beat Jeb-ville ANY DAY!) and the street there WERE JAM PACKED.

It's a perception. MOST Americans DO NOT like Bush. The "liberal media" paints it out to be the other way around. Dickheads!

And, if you give up hope, listen to Randi Rhodes's show. Once, sometimes TWICE a day, she'll get a call from a REPUBLICAN who is TOTALLY PISSED OFF at Bush. Now, that's just one or two or X # of callers to one radio show that is only heard on the airwaves of West Palm Beach & Ft. Pierce. Think of how many OTHER repukes are out there saying "this person is right, but I don't have the time (or the nuts!) to call in!"

And another thing, DUMBya's re-selection #'s...they are in the shiiter!!!!!!!! BELOW 50%. Which equals JUST GIVE UP ALREADY!!!!!!!

No no no, don't give up hope. Get a laundry marker, go to your local stores/clubs, find their bathroom, and write IMPEACH BUSH! Er, uh, NO! That would be, uh, wrong...****COUGH**** not that I have ever done anything like that, who me?????????????

17. Never give up! We've got TRUTH on our side!
And Justice and Liberty and the US Constitution!

{With apologies to the sotten English PM)

THE TRUTH WILL STAMP OUT THE BFEE

We will fight the BFEE in the Boardrooms.
We will fight them in the Courtrooms,
And in the corridors of Pentagon power.
We will fight them in the Barrooms.
And we will fight them and their secret cabal,
or whatever Iraq the PNAC hide under.
But we will never, never, ever, ever surrender!

I think the unemployment nos. are way undercounted, and the masses of unemployed people in this country are going to vote to boot George W. Hoover's ass out of office.

CBS News: "Statistically speaking, it's easier to get accepted into Harvard University than to get a job in this economy." (8/1/03)

it's a lot easier to become involved with the political process when you don't have to go to a job every day.

The main thing I worry about is voting machine fraud in this election.

20. On TOTN today
an ecomomist said "home mortgage forclosures are higher than they have ever been, bankruptcies are higher than they have ever been, we have lost 2.7 million jobs which is 2% of all the jobs in the nation.

Think of how many people are directly or indirectly affected by those 3 statistics.

The baby will lose just like his dad did. It really is the economy.

21. We can win
We can win because we must. We have no other choice. We have a river at our backs and an army in front of us. We are cut off on both sides and there is no escape. We have but one choice:

FIGHT!

Look at the 1948 election. EVERYONE was saying that Harry Truman was going to go down. Yet even as his own party collapsed all around him, he went out and gave the GOP hell! And he won despite the odds that were stacked against him. Defeat is certain when those who fight believe they have lost before they take to the field. When an army attacks and all its soldiers are united in their cause, have intelligent leaders, and is determined to see it through no matter what the obstacles, nothing can stop such a juggernaut. Do not despair, sister, comrade in arms, do not lose hope, do not lose faith. Our cause is right and just, the truth is out and on our side, and our foe is stumbling while his own forces appear to be acting in cohesion while in truth they are dissolving at the seams. We are coming together to form a force that will destroy them. Do not lose faith, do not lose hope.

May the Gods be with us in our quest, and I believe that they are.

23. Turn off your television.
Unplug your radio. Buy a newspaper, but read only the funnies.

Your disposition will improve dramatically. I guarantee it. :-)

In all seriousness, it sounds like you are letting their propaganda get to you. This is understandable. This also is exactly what they want to happen. Just remember this lesson in Seeing Through Doublespeak 101: The more they lie about a subject, the more vulnerable they are on it. If they start screaming really loud, then we have them desperately on the run. As soon they invoke Clinton on a topic that has nothing to do with him, then we know we've won.

There are a lot more people out there disgusted with the shrubco than they want you to believe. The more they claim shrub is popular, the more you know he's really not. You are not alone. We will take our country back. The truth is on our side.

:toast:

28. It's more dangerous to underestimate your enemy...
...than to be 'pessimistic'.

- The Bushies and RWing fanatics don't care if people are disgusted. Do you really think they're counting on the ELECTION to stay in office? Didn't ANY of you get the message from the 2000 fiasco?

- Bush* will (successfully) blame everything on the 'war'. That's why they started it. And it will work because of 'Democrats' like Lieberman who give the war arguments a glimmer of credibility from the 'opposition'.

- Most of the same people will vote for Bush* again...despite what you hear from a few disgruntled Republicans. They would vote for him if he spouted horns and a tail...because they hate Dems even more.

- Bush* CAN be beaten. It will take guts and fortitude and honesty. It will take hearings and investigations and just maybe impeachment. The Bushies have committed crimes against our nation and humanity. Their 'credibility' will remain intact until they're charged and prosecuted.

29. What FubarFly Says!
I have watched the American news industry closely for almost 35 years and one thing is certain: it's now an arm of the bu$h regime. Damnedest thing I ever did see.

It's hard to do, but the best way to save your sanity (and to get out from under the sense of doom that the media wants you to feel unless you support bu$h) is to unplug yourself from a media that is virtually controlled by five corporations who give big money to Repugs. Five. And they're working on making it four!
