MSNBC just shocked the hell out of me
Edited on Thu Mar-25-04 01:45 PM by RummyTheDummy
They read an email from someone offended over W's jokes about WMD. Mentioned 600 dead, offensive etc. Said they had several more emails saying the same thing.

"Point well taken" one of the anchors said.

6. Sent LTTE of my local paper about it
Been without cable for a few weeks now, so it didn't occur to me to send anything to cable outlets. But the local noon news show showed the clip, and the news anchor reporting the story seemed beside himself in amusement.

I fired off an email to that station, then wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper.

Its absolutely destestable. An awol coward sending troops to die for his wmd lies and then joking about it while they're being killed daily. How much more can it take for the bush supporters to wake the hell up? I can't imagine a more outrageous thing.

7. That kind of response is the spark
Sometimes you can goad these people into talking about something, making it a story etc (for at least 24-48 hours) by emailing and MAKING it an issue. If you look at it in that context, every little bit matters.

Otherwise it's just a blip, if that.

2. That sounds dismissive to me.
Like it's just a debate over some trivial detail.

WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE?? I think at least one talking head could muster up the indignant reaction to this the way they did when speaking about Clinton's sex life.

But look how low we have gone. We're to applaude the propoganda freaks because they "acknowledge" the Smirk's vulgar horrific humor?

Sheesh.

8. There was outrage on CNN
Only one or two e-mails defended Bush. The vast majority were outraged. Jack Cafferty looked a bit shaken by the whole thing.

He's more of a curmudgeon. Often the two coincide, but curmudgeons can get crotchety about lots of things.

10. Do you mean the "Point well taken" comment??
If that is what you are referring to as "dismissive" I have to say that I agree with you. I didn't see the report but when I read that line in the original post I immediately thought it sounded dismissive as if this is something they simply want to put to rest as soon as possible.

12. Yes, that is what I meant.
I can just see their fakey "serious" faces saying "point well taken." While I'm sure they were earlier yukking it up over the Smirk's comedy act last night.

If any Democrat had joked about WMD's in that manner, it would be SCORNED in the newsmedia. For Keerist's sake, look how many times they played Dean's Scream speech and labelled it "bizzarre, unpresidential or just plain crazy." Yet do they replay the Smirk's joke 732 times? And label it "unpresidential, vulgar, profane, insensitive, inappropriate?"

Yech.

24. But that is what is so telling!!!
They were "surprised" that people would object to him making jokes about the horrific WMD's we were told to be in fear of for a year????????

What sane person would find that funny? This is not a game.

I guess I meant "dismissive" in the context of ending the conversation. Not discussing it any more in depth as with Dean's Scream which was discussed I think for an entire hour on Tweety.

But earlier this morning two of the MSNBC talking goofs were yucking it up over *hole's evil performance last night. It seems they are only now donning their 'somber' expressions after receiving tons of email from irate viewers who know slime when they see it.

Fu*king media whores!

47. But he did joke about the WTC for months in the Trifecta comments
as in "Lucky me, I hit the Trifecta..." meaning that he would only run a deficit in the case of recession, war, or national emergency and he got all three. :puke:

and his arrogant, "Now, watch this drive." comment on the golf course just after an Israel bus bomb killed dozens is entirely within his (lack of) character.

The man is the epitome of asshole.

44. Unfortunately, I don't have names...
But it's the show that follows Imus in the Morning. All I know is that there was a male and female host who seemed to get a big fu*king hoot out of *hole's performance last night. In particular, they seemed to get the biggest kick out of the 'joke' about dumbsfeld's favorite teevee show being 'queer eye for the straight guy'.

What I found offensive, considering the insensitive comments about the WMDs, was the general happy-go-lucky attitude they had about the entire affair. Smiles abound as they were talking about some of the 'surprising' comments *hole made last night.

Then again, maybe I'm the one who fails to see the humor in *hole's routine last night.

11. If Bushco starts getting criticized for joking about WMD...
I hate to say this, but... If Bush starts getting criticized for joking about WMD, he will simply remind everyone about Kucinich's joking about WMD. Of course, we all know that the difference between Bush and Kucinich is that Kucinich did not send soldiers on a pointless hunt for WMD that do not exist, but that point may be lost on the sheeple.

Anyway, if we are going to attack Bush for joking about WMD, we ought to at least prepare for the rebuttal.

27. Oh yeah, that.
Maybe that was inapproriate for Dennis to say that, but I believe he was pointing out the WMD's are not in Iraq and Bush's crazy distraction story about manned mission to the Moon was to keep the public from noticing the WMD's aren't there when they told us theyknew exactly where they were...Tikrit, Baghdad.

It is vastly different when Bush jokes about finding them, when he gave speeches to the Congress, US people, UN and in fact the World that he knew the WMD's were there and we were protecting ourselves. If it's funny now, why are soldiers still dying for the joke?

Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere. (Laughter and applause.)

As you can tell from the look on Andy Card's face, we've become a little concerned about the Vice President lately. (Laughter.) Whenever you ask him a question, he replies, "Let's see what my little friend says." (Laughter.) But we get along well. Here I am saying, "Dick, if the Hunan Palace doesn't get lunch here in four minutes, we're going out." (Laughter.)

Nope, no weapons over there. (Laughter and applause.) Maybe under here. (Laughter.) Oops, this photo wasn't supposed to be in here. This is the Skull and Bones secret signal. (Laughter.)

I guess finally someone clued in the crew at MSNBC>
