Name the Songs You'd Want The Democratic Team to Use While Campaigning
While campaining for president, I'd like them to use a great Springsteen song like "Born in the USA" or "The Rising."

6. Yes
I just did a Kazaa search. There's a song called "Eat Shit and Die" by some group called Necro. It kind of sounds like cross between rap and heavy metal.

34. Hey, that's right!
Anyone have a list of the songs the U.S. Army played outside the Vatican Embassy in Panama to smoke out Noriega? What a perfect closing of the circle if they were to be played at the Dem Convention in protest of the Chimp.

35. John Lennon - "Gimme Some Truth"
"I’m sick and tired of hearing things
From uptight, short-sighted, narrow-minded hypocritics
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth
I’ve had enough of reading things
By neurotic, psychotic, pig-headed politicians
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth

No short-haired, yellow-bellied, son of tricky dick
Is gonna mother hubbard soft soap me
With just a pocketful of hope
Money for dope
Money for rope

I’m sick to death of seeing things
From tight-lipped, condescending, mama’s little chauvinists
All I want is the truth
Just gimme some truth now"

I’ve had enough of watching scenes
Of schizophrenic, ego-centric, paranoiac, prima-donnas
All I want is the truth now
Just gimme some truth"

I got the Imagine cd for Christmas 2000, not long after the court decision, and it became something of a personal anthem for me. It's soooo perfect. Another great Nixon-era song that would work now is Randy Newman's "Mr. President, Have Pity On The Working Man." Some lines:

"Maybe you've cheated
Maybe you've lied
Maybe you have lost your mind
Maybe you're only thinking 'bout yourself

Too late to run. Too late to cry now
The time has come for us to say good-bye now
Mr. President have pity on the working man
Mr. President have pity on the working man"

I'd sort of like to see a Democratic ad with that song and some shots of an unemployment office. And of course there's the old standby's, like "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow."

45. Here is a pithy little ditty from days gone by...
Come gather 'round people
Wherever you roam
And admit that the waters
Around you have grown
And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
If your time to you
Is worth savin'
Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come writers and critics
Who prophesize with your pen
And keep your eyes wide
The chance won't come again
And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's namin'.
For the loser now
Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come senators, congressmen
Please heed the call
Don't stand in the doorway
Don't block up the hall
For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon shake your windows
And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

Come mothers and fathers
Throughout the land
And don't criticize
What you can't understand
Your sons and your daughters
Are beyond your command
Your old road is
Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

The line it is drawn
The curse it is cast
The slow one now
Will later be fast
As the present now
Will later be past
The order is
Rapidly fadin'.
And the first one now
Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.
