Sunday School--for Science!
I was raised Catholic and attended CCD (I don't recall what that stands for, but it was religious training) once a week, as did most of my friends who were Catholic. As far as I recall, this education was free, or very low cost.

I suggest that in states or districts where school boards are insisting on teaching creationism and otherwise undermining the teaching of the scientific method and rationalism in public schools that scientists should set up after-school programs for science. This would allow parents who cannot afford private school, but still want their children taught facts, not fairytales, to send their kids to public schools and still end up with a decent education.

Any scientists out there willing to discuss this? Anybody willing to be a "missionary?"

No good at Biology, sorry. The only problem is I'm 6,000 mi away.

I think that's a wonderful idea. As my father pointed out, schools want to teach creationism, but which version are you going to teach? The cow licking the ice, the cosmic egg, humans are tears of the gods (I like that one myself). It's time we do something to stop this silliness.

4. Check out UU religious education programs
Unitarian Universalism RE programs attempt to introduce kids to the entire spectrum of belief systems. They are also science friendly. Maybe volunteer some time for them. They got the kids. They got the classrooms. And they got the time.
