I know it's borderline criminal for some around here to put in a positive word about McCain, but he has a lot of respect from people on both sides of the political spectrum around the country. And when he says "I can't answer that....in 20 years around this town I've never had people break their word to me in this fashion" that will strike home to some people.

It's all about the credibility gap.

Chose shrubito over McCain in 2000? I still just can't believe it. I guess loser-boy was a lot easier to manipulate for CorpWorld purposes.

THAT'S why people have such reservations about McCain.

3. Understandable...but that doesn't take away from the fact

that McCain does have considerable sway among independents and moderates, and a comment like this out of his mouth could be important for people in that category.
