I wish that our leadership would oppose the new FCC rules and not cave
into the right wing. The stupid, lame, insipid, disgusting piece of legislation passed the House with Dem votes....raising the fine for "indecency" to half a million, each infraction. What a joke - it will be levied by the likes of that slug Michael Powell against the foes of dubya like Stern, a man who speaks the truth even if it singes the ears....

Why do dems jump on this lame right wing bandwagon, why are they such cowards?

Free speech? Stern is right when he says in a matter of years we will be living under a Christian dictatorship...

It makes me sick, down deep....

5. the FCC must be stopped
if only we could convince someone famous that gets fined by the FCC to fight back, there MIGHT be a hope of the fcc being scaled back, if not, that is the last option before all hell breaks loose

A huge majority of Americans like tv and radio which includes sex.

Censorship has momentum right now, but it's going to stopped by public demand.

We're winning the culture war overall. Rightwingers are having a good few months.

There is still "Will and Grace" on primetime broadcast tv.

Don't over-react to something which will work out okay.

There is a lot of money to be made in giving listeners and viewers what they want, and the rightwingers attempts to stop it won't succeed.

from taking over more of TV.

That said, I agree with you on the increasing of the fines (should be opposed). The bill is both good and bad, imho. I think that the bigger problem is media conglomeration. I also think that we'll be able to revers the larger fines in the future, but the media conglomeration has to be stopped now and this is the bill that the Republicans allowed to pass in the House which lessens the media conglomeration.

The Senate version delays media conglomeration for a year. The House version says nothing about media conglomeration.

Call your Senators against the bill.

Don't be charmed be a one-year delay in the bill, which will probably be removed in conference-comittee anyway.
