3. I just don't get it

Why isn't there more outrage against this? The core of the democratic process is threatened to the point of being reduced to third world dictatorship levels of trustworthiness.
We in Canada write X'es on little pieces of paper with a pencil and still manage to get the results of any election before the 11:00 news.
Is progress that imperative? (BTW, my very first post/rant on DU).

8. Vote Validation

Last night at our caucus in little Elgin, TX, I submitted and
we passed the Texas Voter Safety resolution to insist that the
selection of machines and systems be a public one, and that
there be a "voter verifiable receipt" when voting
electronically.

I think this resolution was passed in many caucuses, and will
make its way up to the National Dem Convention.

Meanwhile, it was a pleasure to vote with a smudgy pencil on
an optical scan paper ballot, while sitting at tables amongst
my neighbors.

Cheap, too.  Seems that where they have new computer-screen
voting machines, the county had to hire 600 new tech workers
to be on site for troubleshooting.
