Am I the only one who thinks there's something fishy about Haiti????
I've just checked the forum for comments regarding Haiti but I haven't found any major concerns from anybody.

Am I missing something? Does anybody know about US and France's role in Haiti's coup?

Please check these interesting links, I think they raise some serious questions:

1. No, you're not the only one
For some strange reason, bloody coups by Pinochet Typoes seems to rise during an Imperial Party administration.

Though I'm sure it's just a coinkydink.

2. Welcome angryone
I read some good articles on this same subject http://www.commondreams.org/

It does make me wonder a bit. Honestly, I dunno what's up or down in that situation. Perhaps Tinoire could clarify it?

3. No you're not alone.
There were several threads in the last couple of days about Haiti, especially from people of Haitian background. The NY Times editorial on Monday, it was pointed out to me yesterday, was very critical of the Bush admin's passive aggression toward Aristide since day 1.

11. You have to give some credit to Bush! He's got a gigantic set of balls!
You would think that with the scrutiny of Iraq mess on his table, there's no way he would send a US official with marines to escort Aristide out of office without any hint of impropriety?!?!?

Either Bush's genuinely a ruthless nut or an idiot with a messianic mission!!

5. The only people who supported Aristide were the poor

And all the poor of Haiti have ever done is put their own selfish concerns above US business interests.

The last thing American investors need is some wacko ex-priest harping about raising the minimum wage all the time.

How is that supposed to help US businesses?

This problem is not new. The Haitians have always been like that.

Take a look at this link.

7. I feel such despair for people in Haiti right now
I fear that there is a great deal of violence & death occuring right now that we are unaware of. Conveniently for the "rebels" there appears to be no media on the scene covering it. This black out paired with violent para-military groups and murderers stepping up as leaders surely makes for unfortunate circumstances.

8. this whole thing stinks
You not alone---what I have read so far has amazed me----this whole think reeks of the Bush White house---they have done it again with out thinking---blind hatred is what you can call their foreign policy... and naturally the press is too timid to make anything about it....

9. Credibility Gap
I don't like to rush to judgement before seeing the facts and right now it is a he said/she said.

The main problem that I have is that this admin has lied to us so much about so many policy issues and actions that I tend to be skeptical of everything that they say. I really hate the feeling of not being able to trust ANYTHING that our govt says. Worse than that, I tend to give more credibility to foreign govt statements than I do our own. Sad position to be in.

13. URGENT ALERT: CAR has shut off President Aristide's phone service
<clips>

2004-03-03 | Ira Kurzban, the lawyer who represents President Jean Bertrand Aristide has announced that he had just learned that the Central African Republic (CAR) has shut off President Aristide's phone service. He said that armed members of the French and CAR military are guarding President Aristide and he is not free to leave.

While there are many conflicting reports coming out of Haiti and Central Africa, the only way we will be able to determine the truth is open communications and immediate investigations.
