Kerry Has a TON of Ammo to Unload on Bush. He Had Better Use It
Edited on Wed Mar-03-04 12:46 PM by Stevendsmith
Kerry needs to decrease the broad rhetorical attacks on Bush and start tapping into the wealth of specific and incredibly troubling charges against these thugs. He should begin today by breaking out the bullhorn that comes with the nomination and ask why the administration is stonewalling the 9-11 investigation. I mean, this is on a platter. Take it, man. Use it.

He needs to hammer on

Cheney's energy task force
The environmental record
The specifics on the phonied-up war on Iraq
Etc, etc, etc

All bets should be off. It's time to toss the Washingtonian rules of engagement.

Time to take the gloves off and ditch the broad-based rhetoric. And I'm not talking about dishing out trash and personal attacks. I'm talking about calling out BushCo's specific policy disasters and LIES.

1. Yes!
And another thing I'd add: W's totally out-of-control spending.
Kerry should emphasize, over and over, that it would be utterly
contradictory for a fiscal conservative to vote for Bush.

2. 9/11 failures, diplomatic catastrophe, the quagmire in Iraq
And the long list of corporate favors by this white house.

4. ABSOLUTELY!!! I've said it a MILLION times...it's not politics
as usual. I've already called Kerry's office once (a couple of weeks ago) but will call once per week. We need to remind them of the gravity of the situation. Along with all of the other stuff, what about Republicans being about state's rights? What about Oregon where they blasted the voter supported assisted suicide? What about Ca. where they are attacking the (voter supported) medical marijuana clinics? What about them trying to possibly ammend the constitution to disenfrancise gays and lesbians from marriage? Up is down and down is up...we must be viligant and march in the streets. * and his gang of thugs can't stay!!!!!!

5. I agree
Totally with you. I get so frustrated with people who want to go after Bushie on his military record or whether his family had any ties to the Third Reich. These issues will get us on the losing side of the election. They don't matter anymore and only appeal to our base. We need to go after Bush on the war in Iraq, taxes, patriot act, the environment, etc. We are on the right side of these issues and if we want the WH back in Nov we had better appeal to more than just our "base". There are at least 15-20% of Americans who vote democrat or republican based on the issues that are important to them. These are the people we need to attract. The democratic base is unified at throwing out Bush. That's not enough VOTES, folks!

You may think it is selling out, I call it WINNING.

6. When Bush says Kerry flip-flops, Kerry should respond with. . .
"Bush bait-and-switches"

7. Bush's past was glossed over in 2000.With his AWOL status in play,
why not his other shady dealings? A supposed Texas oilman who never found oil but always managed to leave one company after another with a pocketful of cash just before the company declared bankruptcy might attract the public's interest, not to mention an SEC investigation that went nowhere because Smirk's daddy was President.
Sweetheart land deal on a baseball stadium, foreclosing private land for a private enterprise(a unique one time deal, like the SCOTUS handing him the presidency) making him a millionaire and giving him a mantle of respectibility he never could have earned himself.
There are many others as well.

8. There isn't a doubt in my mind that he will use all of the ammo.
I have been impressed with Kerry and my transition to support him has been an easy one. He is quick to respond to the charges leveled against him, he is calling the administration out on their cowardice and vile campaign tactics and he has been critical of the administration on the issues that matter.

I think he is proving himself to be a fighter and it does my heart good to see the republicans underestimate him. I think they are in for a big surprise if they think Rove's tactics will be successful this year. Kerry seems to be hip to KKKarl's MO and I have all the confidence he will turn the tables on the republican party this year.

9. Sure - except for the 'ammo' that Democrats like Kerry are complicit in.
That one restriction will reduce the ammo pile by quite a bit.

"The specifics on the phonied-up war on Iraq?"
- You mean, the one Kerry voted for? The one where he agreed that Saddam's 'WMD' were a threat; & that the issue in question was only WMD (& not, for example, oil)?

Or maybe he should unload on Bush about the stolen 2000 election? The election after which he never so much as said "Boo," & refused (along with all the other spineless Senate Dems) to support a protest by the Congressional Black Caucus?
