Know thine enemy: Karl Rove bio
From a "Famous Texans" website. Check out some of the other "FT" politicians. Hadn't realized he went back to the Watergate years.

Career: In the years of the Watergate scandal, Rove's career as a big-time political handler began with a motley crew of friends and associates. He was chairman of the College Republicans when George Herbert Walker Bush was chairman of the state Republican Party in 1973. He won the presidency of the College Republicans in a race against Terry Dolan. The late Lee Atwater, who later became famous as the political attack dog for the Reagan-Bush team, managed Rove's campaign. Dolan went on to become a Soft Money pioneer by helping form the National Conservative Political Action Committee, then died of AIDS in 1986 at age 36. Dolan's advisers in his loss to Rove were Charlie Black, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone. Those three were later instrumental in the success of Ronald Reagan's 1984 campaign.
<snip>
Rove has been closely advising George W. Bush since he announced he was a candidate for Governor in November 1993. By January 1994, Bush had spent $613,930 on the race against incumbent Ann Richards. Over half of that, $340,579, went to Rove.

1. According to a Cspan caller
Rove also worked on the dirt digging college repubs in the Nixon campaign - one of the things that got Nixon almost impeached.

4. I heard that on CSPAN as well
I wasn't aware of that. Anybody have any more information on that? I also would be interested in seeing a list of people who were involved in the Nixon administration, their role alongside a list of people in the current administration.

One thing that struck me while listening to that CSPAN program this morning was how long these people have been trying to seize control on this country. With changing demographics, I really think they realized that it was now or never and that is why they have pursued their agenda so aggressively.

They must me shaking their heads in amazement to see how far they've come in the past two years. Even when they're gone, their actions will have repercussions for decades to come.

8. The damage these jerks have done...
will indeed take a long time to reverse. But at least it is reversible.

One of the main things we must focus on is getting back on track, and getting progressives to work together. The common bond throughout all of this, has to be the victory over bush in '04. There are plenty of reasons why we are so diverse, but now is the time to get it all together and get rid of these leeches.

Once we regain power, we can get to the reality of prosecuting these cretins, and taking away the only thing the covet, money. Seize their assets. I am amazed that there has been nothing done about the Enron fiasco, and all of the others. If I have the power, I would show NO MERCY on this bunch of bastards. They have no compassion, and mercy is the farthest thing from their minds. I would be their worst nightmare, justice must be served on this group of traitors.

Whew.....sorry about the rant; I'm just so disgusted that ANYONE would defend these creeps. I just had a to-do with a re-pug; I was OK until he said that bush was the best president we ever had. At that point I lost it, and gave him a litany of situations where bush failed. He actually agreed with me, as if he had never heard any of this before.

I wouldn't wipe my ass with bush....I'm afraid some of the 'stupid' might wear off.

6. Here's what I heard on C-SPAN
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 11:30 AM by seemslikeadream
A caller said that he was the CEO of the Democratic National Convention at the time and Larry O'Brian called him that morning. Segretti hand in destroying Ed Muske and Hubert Humphrey and that in a book called The President's Private Eye by Tony ? there is a footnote about Carl Rove's connection with this. Carl was the Director of Young Republicans Committee in Wisconsin and also involved in some stuff in Indiana.

7. This is why the pardoning of Nixon was a mistake
Edited on Sat Aug-02-03 11:44 AM by SoCalDem
Had Nixon been tried and not pardoned, the rest of the sleazy stuff would have come out..

These people needed to be discredited , IN PUBLIC,....and LOUDLY...when they commited their sneaky deeds.. By giving Nixon a pass, these folks breathed a sigh of relief, and were carefully folded back into the Reagan/Bush /Bush administrations.. They have had 30 years to "get their game down" ,and by now they are very good at it..

If Negroponte had been politically "taken out" back then, how many people would still be alive today???

If Cheney had been taken down then, would he have ever made it to congress, where he could affect policy/legislation??

Would Rove be the player that he is today, if he had been exposed for the little albino cockroach that he truly was/is???

Who knows??? We may not have even HAD a Reagan administration without the shifty , behind-the-scenes- stuff that these guys no doubt pulled with the Iranians ultimately led to the downfall of Carter..

People have got to start thinking "long-term" like the repubbies have always done.. They see the game next week and the playoffs, and we are concentrating on the next play..

It's kind of like pest control.. Do we just chase the roaches out of the kitchen, knowing that they will return the minute the lights go off, or do we get out the Raid, and snuff them out ???
