Would a second term for bush get us off our a----?
I was very amazed, and disappointed, when the election results were held up for 35 days in 2000. It seemed to me that Gore caved in, and lost his will to fight. And it also seemed that the Democratic party was made impotent and lethargic by the defeat to the Supreme Court nazis. Many of us were discouraged, burnt out, and depressed.

And after 9-11, many of us even began to support bush, more out of respect for the office, than for him personally. And our shock and awe filled in the gap normally occupied by our fighting side, and we settled in, and rallied, and supported America the best we knew how.

We even began to believe that bush was impenetrable and unstoppable.
Bullets bounced off him, nothing could stop him. It was only in the last few months that the press and the liberals have seemed to come alive again, with a renewed verve. What the hell took so long? We are still shaking off the horror and fear of the Twin Tower attacks.
And we are just now beginning to see through the republican induced fog.

Now, that 20,000 have died in Afghanistan and Iraq, now that 600 U.S. soldiers have died, and now that thousands more have been crippled for life, now we begin to snap out of our stupor.

We need to face the very real possibility that bush gets a second term. I didn't say elected, or re-elected, I said 'gets a second term'. I'm sure all the details are being worked out, and they have some surprises up their sleeves, and despite the sunny scenarios suggested by some, it could easily happen again. It was so easy the first time in 2000.

So, would 4 more years of this shit motivate us into real, concrete action? Would be become so angry and focused that we'd roll up our sleeves and storm the Bastille? Revolution? Civil Unrest? Too radical to contemplate? Yeah, maybe we should try to appease our confused right wing brothers and sisters more. Maybe things will be o.k. under a second bush term. Then, Jeb could take an 8 year ride too.

I suspect that the right wing perceives us as idiots, and basically neutered zombies, who bark a lot, raise a little hell, and then go home with our tails between our legs. We need more anger. We need to retain our standards, and our liberal ideals, but we need to grow muscular and resolved to throw back every stone that is thrown at us.
If we don't get rid of these men THIS NOVEMBER, we wont' get rid of them for decades, because right now, they are more powerful than ever.
And they don't want to give up that power, and that makes them dangerous. And that means that we are all threatened and we should all steel ourselves for a very rough road ahead.

1. If we don't get rid of them this November, it may be too late.

3. This is my feeling. The american dream may be over if Bush gets
in again. We may see World War III with no end.

2. Us? Yes, we're already off our asses. Most? No. Not as long...
Us? Yes, we're already off our asses. Most? No. Not as long as the
hist keep coming on TV, the Bud keeps flowing, and the gas stays
below (Oh, I dunno) $2.50/gallon so you can fill the old SUV for
under a $50.

Americans are happily sappily pathetically apathetic.

4. well....
..... there is a school of thought that says if Bush* gets another 4 years the country will be in such bad shape that even the freepers will turn against the right wing. And there is something to be said for that. The idea that 4 more years will allow them to lock up the system doesn't fly with me.

On the other hand, If Bush* gets to appoint one more wingnut to the SC, well that damage will be hard to undo. That's my counter argument :)

5. It will be a tough year
But I think victory over President Bush is possible; and I see lots of signs that people are motivated to fight against him.

6. We HAVE to get him out this year
They will only continue to consolidate their power and it will get harder to get him out of there. Not to mention what havoc they will wreak in another 4 years.

I smell blood -- let's get him out NOW.

7. Sadly
I believe it's already too late. I think that the shock of seeing Dean quickly taken down just reinforces to me how easy it will be for the media to take Kerry down in the fall with the Republicans dictating the controversies. Sorry, please don't flame - this is how I feel. I don't hate Kerry, I just don't see him winning against this Machine.

By the way, it's nice to see you back, Mopaul. I have missed you.
