Whatever happened to that missing airman in Iraq?
Remember the guy who got shot down over Iraq long before George W. Bush's illegal invasion? I think it was months before anyone went looking for him - and they discovered evidence that suggested he had survived. I saw a televised report; it might have been on "60 Minutes."

Anyway, I thought that this was a story that would be ferreted out after Team Exxon invaded Iraq. If it has been publicized, I missed it.

But my hunch is that the Pentagon doesn't want this story publicized, because it's too damn embarrassing. In fact, the federal government has a sad history of abandoning our troops. Remember the USS Indianapolis? How many U.S. soldiers were abandoned to the Russians during World War II?

And check out these discussions about the men we left behind in Vietnam:

1. I wondered about that
That's funny you bring that up. I first heard that on Chris Matthews and I wrote to him saying that I thought that the Bush admin was using it as a ploy to build support for invading Iraq.

May have been a ploy afterall.

2. Their "evidence" was...
Two initials scratched in a wall. It was nothing. They've used that poor man for political purposes for years now. It's a disgrace.

4. Two initials carved into a wall?
The program I saw claimed they found his downed aircraft and discovered evidence that he had survived and stayed near it for some time. I don't recall all the details, but it's probably on the Internet.

7. That evidence was somewhere between
...sloppy and non-existant. They seemed very sure that he'd been killed and that's not something they do without some evidence. It was only YEARS later that they started fiddling with his status and it REEKED of politics.

3. His name is Scott Speicher and they talked about him this AM.
I want to say it was on CSPAN. Apparently, a "source" who said he had seen Speicher in 1996 was a known serial liar. It was known by the NSA, State Dept., and CIA that this Iraqi source was totally unbelievable. However, information continued to come from "somewhere" that Speicher was seen alive in 1996. Hmmmm. I wonder where that information was coming from?

They don't know where Capt. Speicher is and I believe that they were using his disappearance as one of their many sham reasons to invade.

5. Check out this site...
It includes links to some pretty amazing articles. Sounds like the Pentagon screwed up big time. My best guess is that they want this story forgotten.
