Geeze...gas & oil prices are way up
who profits from the increased prices? could it be all the people sitting around the table with Dick Cheney for his secret energy meetings?

1. One thing that has always completely baffled me
is why Americans never try to find another way to power their
cars.
For 30 years, some Canadians have been converting their cars & trucks to run on propane. Out in the woods, loggers and others who earn
their living from hard, dangerous labor consider propane the best
way to go, and they usually convert a truck as soon as they buy it.
Yet here in the States, you never see or hear of anyone doing this.
Why not? What's wrong with Americans? Sheer laziness or complacency?
Everyone complains about the cost of gas, but no one ever seems
to take steps...

5. I think propane prices are going up too
ALL portable fossil fuel sources seem to be going up; gasoline, oil, propane, natural gas, etc. I don't know how much good converting to propane would do. The best approach, IMO, is to emphasize more public transportation options.

2. They are looking out for American jobs & profits
Companies will be better off if prices drop. Consumption will go through the roof and create half a million jobs. That's why we invaded Iraq, get those pumps going and prices falling! American companies & consumers will use whatever is brought over. Rising prices hurts the Bush administration's re-election chances.

8. for comparison, UK prices
75.1p per litre from supermarkets, which is 77.6% tax. Pre-tax, this is equivalent to $1.14 per US gallon at today's exchange rate. So if you pay significantly more than that before tax, in populated areas, you're being ripped off by the oil companies.

6. No shit! Been trying to tell everyone this for the past six months.
Food, energy, gasoline, health care, education, and housing...all up. They used to call it inflation but we can only say inflation if Greenspan allows us to. If the interest rates weren't so low this economy would have been flushed down the toilet months ago. It is not the tax cuts that are bringing it back but low innterest rates keeps people buying houses. Once that is gone...there is nothing left for the economy to fall back on EXCEPT more WAR!!!
