war on drugs...terror....now gays?
are gay people about to become the new terrorist enemy and threat to the christian conservative agenda? with the fight developing over gay marriages and rights, the repubs are appealing to their most loyal and dependable voting blocks. we all know what happens when a group of individuals gets targeted by the right wing zealots of the nation. foreign 'looking' people start to die. hindu 7-11 clerks are killed by jerks who think they are arab terrorists. arab looking diners are alerted to the f.b.i. by well meaning little old ladies.

now that the lies about iraq and enron are being finally digested and exposed, the neonazis need new fodder to rally the faithful. queers, lesbians, and bisexual crazies are destroying the very fabric of our beloved society, and they must be stopped from marrying one another and destroying the 'institution' of marriage.

so they are switching the brains of the bushzombies and rushpuppies from insane arab suiciders and shadowy terrorist groups, to people of the same sex who happen to be in love and would like to get married like everyone else.

will gay people actually be targeted, literally and figuratively, and choraled into the 'enemy' category? i wouldnt' put it past them.

1. We'll learn that Muslim fundies are "friendly" to gays.
Just like Nazi Germany was. If the pundits say it it must be true!

2. The Nazis were very friendly to gays.
They even gave them a place to stay.

12. a good parallel
to today's american regime: homosexuals within the government, enacting laws and movements against homosexuals. ala j. edgar hoover, roy cohn, etc. there are other contemporary individuals too who practice this weird creed.

the nazis rounded up thousands of homosexuals, and justified hanging them, as they justified the elimination of anyone they chose.

john asskkkroft, left to his own devices, would take the treblinka approach to homosexuality too.

3. Gays are evil damn it!
I said it before and I'll say it again. Name one gay person that has contributed anything to society. Other than, Langston Hughes, Gore Vidal, Oscar Wilde, Federico Garcia Lorca,Tennessee Williams, Barney Frank, Rock Hudson, Reinaldo Arenas, Most Greek and Roman phillosophers, etc. I mean come on.......

4. The Bush Criminal Empire would never declare "war on gays"
Think about it. Their "war on drugs" has increased drug trafficking. Their "war on terror" actually introduced terrorism into Iraq, and made real terrorists even more likely to attack America.

Bush "wars" have this nasty habit of doing exactly the opposite of what they're supposed to be doing. Now on the other hand, if Junior ever pledges support of gay civil rights, THAT would be the indication of impending doom :scared:

7. That and the fact that
Poppy is married to a George Washington impersonator would make them look even more like hypocrites.

5. In a way, yes they will. And
I predict Roe V. Wade will be right up there with gay rights on the GOP platform. They have to energize their base and they do it with fundamentalist morality issues. Gays = evil. Pro-choice = evil.

6. we've always been that enemy
i remember when after ''don't ask don't tell'' some gay service people woke up with their brains bashed in. it's an old story.
what's interesting to me are people who on the one hand are allies of gay people -- critisize the way gay marriage is taking place now.
do they imagine that under any circumstances it would be anything other than an ugly dawg fight?
the religous right are hate mongers and that's a truth that must be told.
the fight was always going to be a bitter one -- the time is now to buck up and take it on.

11. "the time is now" I disagree
First of all, I'm gay, so this is coming from a gay man. I agree that no matter when the issue arises it would be a "dawg fight". Absolutely right about that. However, what makes this issue so important RIGHT NOW? One thing and one thing only: The repukes need an issue that will DIVIDE the growing consensus against *Bush and neo-con policies. At this critical juncture in history ALL OUR ATTENTION AND ENERGY should be directed toward getting rid of the neo-cons. They are a criminal enterprise that is going to bring this country--gay and straight--to its knees. They WANT to splinter, fragment and destabilize our society. All the EASIER to bring about their ultimate nazi, fascist agenda: The overthrow of the Constitution and the Republic.

No, I'm NOT exagerating.

13. Let them divide the coutnry. We will STILL win.
Because OUR division will be stronger. A country where the "gay marriage" issue is able to allow the prejudiced side win is no longer a country I wish to be a part of.

14. dead on
patriotic americans of every stripe should be rising up to stop this group of fanatics and maniacs. it's like the twilight zone, the people who are being screwed over the most are the ones who support bushco the most.

none of these maniac politicians gives a crap about christ, or his followers, none of them give a damn about homosexuality or drugs or anything else, other than money and power. they're drunk with it, they're cranked up like crackheads with it, and until they are actually stopped, they will take us all into hell.

whatever they're for.....i'm against it. whatever they fear, i love.
whatever they want, i don't want. whatever they say, i don't believe it. if they are against drugs, i'll take drugs. if they are against liberals, i'll be one. if they attack gays, i'll become one and vote for hilary for president just on the outside chance that they'd all choke to death when she got voted in.

9. not officially, but...
whenever the homophobic rhetoric ramps up, violence against gay people increases. Those of us in Oregon have fought this battle several times over the last 15 years. The Oregon Citizens Alliance (an amalgam of fundies and anti-tax zealots) have used the initiative process to put several anti-gay rights measures on the ballot. All were defeated, but during the election campaign, there would be the predictable letters to the editor using all the code words: depraved, perversion, unnatural, etc. There would be yard signs and bumperstickers all over the place. And there was always an increase in the number and intensity of attacks against gay people including firebombing an apartment that killed two people, and another slaying of a lesbian couple. There are always those few cretins right on the edge of violence who hear the increased rhetoric and see the signs and bumperstickers and feel empowered to act out their hate.
