TV folks say they saw AWOL, but Alabama paper says NO.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 07:04 PM by Ripley
For some reason this front page article is not on my local paper's online site, so I can't link it. I'll snip a bit.

"Guardsmen can't recall seeing Bush" by David Barstow

snip>

Inside the Alabama Air National Guard the search is on for someone, anyone, who recalls encountering 1st Lt. George W. Bush in 1972.

snip>

Those interviewed either held key supervisory positions at the base or were members of the fraternity of pilots and navigators who often congregated in a lounge on the second floor of Dannelly's main hangar. They worked in different units of the 187th, including the maintenance squadron, the supply squadron, the headquarters staff, flight safety and the flight operations center.

Yet try as they might -- nearly all voiced strong support for Bush -- none remembered crossing paths with him. Nor had any heard of anyone else in the 187th who recalled seeing Bush.

snip>

The article goes on at some length with interviews with specific people from all of the different departments and not one can remember AWOL.

I freaking love this because this is on the front page of my paper here in the HEART OF DIXIE...HIS TRUE SUPPORTERS HAD TO READ IT!!!

The dam is not dripping anymore, it's leaking good now. Hee hee.

(On edit: this is today, Friday the 13th paper...Aw crap, I just realized it's Friday the 13th.)

2. Link off of AWOLbush.com to Memphis Flyer
regarding two pilots who served in the 187th during the time Monkeynuts claims he was there. Good article!
