How does Colin Powell really feel about AWOL Bush?
This is an interesting quote from Colin Powell's autobiography My American Journey page 148.

"I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well-placed... managed to wangle slots in Reserve and National Guard units... Of the many tragedies of Vietnam, this raw class discrimination strikes me as the most damaging to the ideal that all Americans are created equal and owe equal allegiance to their country."

I really wish Colin Powell was in a position where he could honestly respond to what Bush and the administration has done... in Iraq... and in Bush's "service" during the Vietnam War.

1. Like Paulie Walnuts feels about Tony Soprano
Colon Foul is full of SH*T. His words are lies just like those of his bosses in the Bush Crime Family.

National Guard: Now and Then

http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0402/13/nfcnn.09.html

<snip>MARTIN SAVIDGE, CNN ANCHOR: That controversy surrounding President Bush's military service during the Vietnam War has thrown the National Guard into the spotlight.
Our senior Pentagon correspondent, Jamie McIntyre, takes a look at the Guard now and then.

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

JAMIE MCINTYRE, CNN SR. PENTAGON CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In the '60s and '70s, the National Guard was barely trained for riot control, much less jungle combat.

RET. COL. SAM GARDINER, U.S. AIR FORCE: They were the third echelon, they were the last to go. They weren't very ready.

MCINTYRE: Their drills looked good on film, but for many, service in the Guard was simply the best legal way to avoid the draft in Vietnam. In his autobiography, former joint chiefs chairman, Colin Powell, complained "I am angry that so many of the sons of the powerful and well placed and so many professional athletes managed to wrangle slots in the Reserve and National Guard units."

4. How does he feel, or how would he answer?
In Powell's case those are very different.

6. I agree... Powell is not the most outspoken individual.
but deep down, I believe he was against going into Iraq... and his words in his autobiography paint a revealing picture of how he really feels about his chickenhawk boss.

9. I feel the same way
I believe Colin Powell is being used because of the reputation he had before joining this administration. Remember, he once was one of the most highly respected men in the world. Now, I believe he is being forced to support a war he truly did not agree with.

I can tell there is a lot of tension in that administration, with Colin Powell and the other underlings. That is why, he announced early that he will resign his post, regardless if Bush wins (steals) a second term or not.

11. Colin Powell is a piece of shit.
Edited on Fri Feb-13-04 04:55 PM by RapidCreek
He is now and always has been a paid cover-up artist and con-man. He is not the voice of reason and lacks anything remotely resembling integrity. He epitomizes the classic Uncle Tom.

Why people constantly infer that this fucker is somehow an unfortunately loyal "good guy" really amazes me. He was the treasonous prick who operated as the middle man in the arms for hostages deal...and he actively covered up the Mai Li massacre.

His ability to come off as the ernest black statesman is being played to the hilt by Rove...and America is falling for it. First he is dubious about going to war...."the voice of reason"...then after considering all of the "very convincing" evidence, he "grudgingly" makes the decision that he must promote a war with Iraq. Gee...America says....Even Colin Powell thinks we should do it....golly if a guy like Colin Powell has changed his mind....heck if he is willing to go to the UN and say so....well he's gotta be right. What a load of shit!!!

Colin Powell was a token paper pusher in Viet Nam. He did what he was told to do...and what he was told to do is be a Straw man for Johnson and Nixon. It's a job he has mastered over the years...and he is still doing it with aplomb.

13. Colon Bowel is just what RapidCreek said (A POS)!
It sickens me when Democrats make excuses for that right wing turd. He's the "good cop" in the Bush* syndicate's comic opera good cop-bad cop routine.

For even the most trusting among us, all doubts should have been removed when he went to the U.N. and lied his friggin' ass off about supposed WMD. Hell, he even pushed stuff that had already been debunked in the press as "evidence".

The guy is a loyal right wing turd. Don't buy into the propaganda that he's some kind or moral pilgrim lost in the land of evil neo-cons. He's a team player all the way and has ZERO integrity.

16. Powell has no redeeming qualities at all
face it--he is the same as the rest of them that are screwing this country. He also intendes to screw this country--he can retire, his son who needed and got a job because of his Father is set and so Colin, in the near future can just fade away, write a book and live off his blood and bribe money.

I really have no respect for anyone in the Bush administration. IMO anyone who has stuck around this long and continues to praise and defend a stupid, possibly insane delusional man who never won the presidencey in the first place by the votes of the people, is equally as despicable slime as the Bush.
