An old friend joined the reserves after 9-11
I ran into him today and he was in fatigues.

He is an older fellow and is a trainer - said he is trying to teach the kids better morals and behavior.

He seemed embarassed that he had done it - joined back up in a fit of patriotism after 9-11 -- but he said the kids in the service now were smarter and more conscientious and were much more aware. They were smart.

But - what blew my mind was that he started talking about how pissed the soldiers are becoming. They should have gotten in and gotten home after Baghdad. It is getting more and more like Vietnam, he said.

He was especially pissed that Clinton was made out to be a rat for avoiding service but Dubya was AWOL. That avoiding service for being against the war was far more admirable than being awol. Talked about Bush Sr. ditching his plane with men on board and that he was no hero either.

He seemed well versed on the issues we discuss here - the Bush ties to Hitler and the whole Iraq mess being just about oil.

I just wanted to share that. It gave me hope that the men and women in the service can see how transparent this whole Bush war is. It's all about money, he said, and oil. Our soldiers KNOW it too.

Made my day.

1. Not my friends
They are all right wingers who blame Clinton for everything wrong that has happened since 1992.

4. I think this story is the Bush Whacker - bigger than the Niger lies
If we keep hammering on it then people will start to see Bush for the lying loser he is and he will go down in 2004.

5. This is an issue that can bring the Bush-lites our way, I think.
But, we have to tread carefully--the freepers are gonna wail on us when we start driving it. This is as big as the Big Lie and the Other Big Lie--and the one that can get us grassroots support.

Here's more from MWO: an excerpt from a Judy Woodruff on CNN's late edition:

WOODRUFF: Let me quickly -- I want to turn all three of you to Iraq. And I want to read you a quote from "The Washington Post" this past week, a story by Anthony Shadid (ph). He's in Baghdad. He is quoting a 43-year-old U.S. Army reservist, Staff Sergeant Charles Pollard, a man on duty at a little police station in a suburb of Baghdad. And here's what Sergeant Pollard had to say.

He said, "U.S. officials need to get our out of here. We have no business being here. We will not change the culture they have in Iraq. Baghdad is so corrupted. All we are here is potential people to be killed and sitting ducks."

Bill Cohen, you know, you have got not only the Iraqi people -- many of them don't want Americans there -- you've got Americans who are saying what are we doing here? Is this a recipe for disaster?

<snip>

WOODRUFF: But I want to go back to what this Sergeant Pollard had to say. This man, when he's not over in Iraq, working with the police...

ADELMAN: He should be former Sergeant Pollard, to tell you the truth. People in uniform should not be talking that way.

It goes downhill from there.

10. none I believe
and german soldiers critical of their fueher were dismissed like that too. I remember in The Great Escape Hendley and Werner, the German soldier he kinda uses were talking and Werner is like well we dont have the right to gripe or something like that.

9. Werent people killed or imprisoned for being critical of
Hitler and or the military tactics if they were in the German Army. in WWII. Our boys well Pollard isnt a boy should have the right to gripe. Gripeing is a service tradition.
