You know, the Post columnist who just confessed to his own sloppy, draft-avoiding stint in the National Guard which still netted him an "Honorable Discharge." He berated Dubya for not being honest about what we all know...here's what I e-mailed him:

Well now we know where you were during the Viet Nam War. But where were you during the 2000 Presidential Campaign when the doubts about Dubya's National Guard record first surfaced? That was the time a journalist with your audience and credentials should have written a piece like "Guardsman." If there's any shred of truth at all left in the notion that members of the Fourth Estate have a duty to discuss relevant issues with the people in a timely fashion, then I'd say that during the 2000 campaign you were AWOL, sir!
