Surprised nobody's mentioned the SD complete ABORTION BAN!
Edited on Tue Feb-10-04 11:13 PM by Gringo
Even in cases of rape or danger to the health of the mother.

I thought this was kind of a shocker. Is SD like a huge version of the town in "Footloose" before Kevin Bacon came, or what?

Sorry about that. It looks as though they won't be able to enforce it, but what is with these people? Nutjobs!

this hasnt passed yet but they seem to think it will. It's another attempt to force an overturn of Roe V Wade which of cuorse makes beating bush all the more important in order to prevent him from stacking the court.

prospect of SC justices retiring and Scalia as Chief Justice. The 5-4 could go the other way and reverse Roe, maybe 6-3 and then a woman's right to choose is relegated to a butcher block in a dark, dirty back alley flat.

13. Never,
You could put nine fat tony's on the bench and they would never overturn Roe v. Wade. The Republicans would never give up their number one issue. The minute Roe v. Wade falls, the Republicans will lose the house, the senate, the presidency and just about every state legilature and governorship.

9. May this SOB rot in hell:
"When we're considering an innocent life, the health of the mother is not a substantial enough justification to take the innocent life," said Republican Rep. Matt McCaulley, chief sponsor of the bill."

:nuke:

Gee, but we wouldn't want those evil liberals appointing those "activist judges". Such judges might stop right wing fanatics like this asshole from passing legislation like this.

17. That is so F**ked Up!!
What psychos! It's just misogyny wrapped up in pro-life bulls*it.

What is the deal w/ McCaulley anyway - I can look him up, but was wondering if anyone from SD had an opinion - I want to know what he's REALLY like and if he has strong support.

11.  Deja Vu all over again.
Back during the Roe vs Wade years there was an interview with someone in South Dakota saying that their girls were "good girls" and didn't get abortions. I remember my Aunt choking on her coffee and saying. That all those good girls came to the Twin Cities to have their abortions and that before they came to have their babies and then go home after visiting a "relative" for a time.

In my younger cousins small town classes as many as half the girls were pregnant by graduation. You couldn't join the military and often you couldn't even get into college having had a "known" baby.

I think abortion should be the option least and last considered but it should be an option.

15. Being from South Dakota
this is very embarrassing. It looks like it will pass. There are some real wackos in the state and they are very vocal.
I just want people here to know that there are still some people here in South Dakota that realize what a joke this bill is.
First Janklow and now this. (shaking head)
