I talked about AWOL/stop flying/missed physical on WGN radio tonight

they were talking about fatso's questioning the creature about his TANG service.

I called in, asked them if they knew when and WHY he quit flying; that this would be more problematic for him to explain than his missing service/records.

they'd already discussed the fact of the missing records, and the possiblitiy of IRS/Army pay records may or may not proved his actual time of service.

Jim Warren, Chicago Trib, said that sometime after April of 72 he appeared to not have flown again, and a guest reporter from the Dallas Morning News said he thought it had something to do with his not having completed 'medical exams' (plural).

I said that he stopped flying because he did not take his flight physical in 72, and used the excuse that his own personal physician was not available to administer it to him. I said that was "BS" (exact word), that there's NO way anybody would be allowed to use a doctor not affiliated with the guard. Also: American people would be able to latch onto this clearcut fact much more easily than nebulous charges of hard to prove missing days.

they took that in stride, going for the general effect such accusations may have, relating it to Kerry's Vietnam service.

I also said, in response to the DMN reporter's assertion that he answered the question with a fair amount of aplomb (regarding missing records), that he specifically CHALLENGED anyone to try and FIND them; to PROVE he went a'missing. Good part is....I didn't see that part, just read about it here at DU, bringing up the fact that he exhibited preCISEly the characteristics of a guilty person, daring someone to get him.

Before that, when they discussed the fact that this wasn't dealt with last time, because Gore had a somewhat less impeccable Vietnam record than Kerry, AND because the dems tried, but couldn't make an issue of it (one of them said a dem operative told him they tried, but failed!), I strongly disagreed, saying that the media failed to do its job, citing the Boston Globe as the ONLY major media outlet to deal with it seriously.

I call them all the time, usually getting something in there about the media being a joke, not reporting anything negative about Bush, myth of liberal media, etc., to the point where I give phony names.

the last thing I got in tonight was the bit about the media failing to do its job WRT AWOL last time. they had no comment on that, and pretty much treated my call as they do on CSPAN.

they don't usually engage callers.....ask them to ask question, then get off.

I always say I want followup, unlike fatpigboy with pugs, then talk as long as I can til they cut me off.

tonight I'm pretty sure he recognized my voice, as he asked me twice to be concise.

they even did a small snip about how pissed dems are about Silberman, mentioning his sleazy performance during the impeachment. they DIDn't talk about North/Poindexter, though, or when he threatened to PUNCH OUT Ab Mikva.......though they DID say Mikva refused to comment on Silberman's appointment, despite having served on the bench with him.
