Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 07:58 PM by Bleachers7
Says anything to get his point of you sold. They slammed him hard. It was nice and sad all at the same time.

2. Did Frank Luntz moderate the discussion?
If so, how did he react? He's such a shameless republi-CON whore. Wonder if it shook him up to hear all that. A rude awakening in the making.

4. I assume you mean that it was "sad" that they were so easy on Bush.
Just kidding.

6. The good thing is that this sort of opinion is irreversible
Once you decide that someone can't be trusted, there's almost nothing they can say or do that you won't look at with a jaundiced eye.

That's why trust is so hard to restore once lost, or at the very least requires major acts of repentence, along with forfeit of the proceeds of having acted badly. A dozen red roses just won't cut it.

Loss of trust snowballs on itself and even functions retroactively, casting past actions into suspicion as well. Once Bush loses the nation's trust, he ain't never gonna get it back.

7. Absolutely right ...
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 08:16 PM by annxburns
... once you lose your credibility - it is all over. And in Bush's case it cost so much - 100s of lives, thousands of life changing injuries, a debt big enough to swallow our future and the credibility of the U.S. Saw Mark Shields on the Jim Lehrer NewsHour and he was making this point very well. David Brooks looked like he swallowed something foul - (more so than usual).

10. Luntz kept trying to sway the members of the group
He tried to portray anger against Bush as irrational.

"Isn't it over the top?"

Damn. I just realized what his strategic purpose is!

He's there to show the group members in a bad light, and thus, by extension, to show America that Dems aren't thinking clearly, or whatever else he can dredge up.

15. Yep, you got it!
According to the GOPers we're all crazed with anger, and thus not fit for high office. That was the whole purpose of the Dean "anger" crap that floated up a while ago.
