Did anybody consider that in May 1972, when Bush went AWOL....
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 11:00 PM by TruthIsAll
Watergate was about to explode?

That Dirty Tricks Master Donald Segretti, with the help of protege Karl Rove, was about to disrupt the Democrats throughout the campaign?

Just wondering, but isn't the timing suspicious? Bush was AWOL during the period of Watergate, from Summer 1972 to Winter 1973.

And Daddy Bush was RNC Chairman in 1973.

Connect the Dots
1973:
Nixon...> Bush I...> Segretti...> Rove...>Bush II

3. Bush* went AWOL because he had caine in his system.
Can't take a physical with caine in your system. The missing year was covered up. Just like him getting a new drivers license in Texas was a cover up. Why would anyone do that? Cocaine arrest?

6. What's this new spin
about Bush making up the drill time on weekends? Apparently Wolf Blitzer was throwing out this sludge. Wouldn't there be some proof of this "weekend" training. Can't the Bushies come up with verifiable proof that Bush completed his service? I don't understand this. My mother was able to obtain our German ancestors' military records from the 19th century. My son is a Marine and I can't believe the meticulous paperwork detailing when/when/with whom/and how his training is progressing. My father, a WWII veteran, has a scrapbook full of photos, medals, certificates, and paperwork. You would think a man with Bush's resources could show his country proof of his military service. And what about his statement to the Houston Chronicle when he was governor: "I've been to war. And I've been the father of twins. Raising twins is tougher." Cute. (I'm a mother of twins). But when and where was he at war? Could Tim Russert ask him that on MTP this weekend?

17. I campaigned for Jimmy Carter for Ga. governor in Vietnam.
I pushed Carter with my fellow Georgians and arranged absentee ballots for them. I would have much rather been campaigning in Atlanta and drinking beer every night at that Democratic haven, Manuel's (Manuel Maloof, prop.).

BTW: If you are a Democrat and don't know who Manuel Maloof is, you need to get with it. I think a couple of Atlanta DU socials have been held at Manuel's in Virginia-Highlands.

Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 10:42 PM by DemoTex
Of course Poppy, Mosbacher, and James Baker were old CIA operatives too. By all indications, Bu$h Jr's AWOL partner, James Bath, did a trick or two for the CIA himself (and later, as a sleazy used-jet broker, sold a Saberliner 65 to one of the Bin Laden brothers). All sorts of shit happening in the early 70s.

Karl Rove
Senior Advisor to the President
Special Assistant to Republican National Committee Chairman George H.W. Bush, 1973-74;

We know GWB was AWOL (deserter) during this period. Don't you think there is a chance he went to visit Poppy? And if he did, wouldn't he have met Rove also?

26. I believe that the link in my post #4 does say that
Bush's daddy was RNC chairman during Watergate. I guess 41 would have had too much on his plate to keep his eye on little shrub. Though shrub would have been 26 yrs old at that time, so he should have been able to take care of himself.

30. I'm saying there's no more evidence than that...
Bush is a Space Alien.

Sure, he could've been doing a -lot- of things. He could've been on a mission for the CIA. Could have been robbing banks. Could have been working as a gigolo. Could have just been a lazy frat boy trying to get laid. Could have been taking courses in auto mechanics. Could have been taking a correspondence course in art appreciation.

More likely he was drunk on his ass.

You add no evidence or argument. Just speculation.
This only detracts from serious questions and discussions.

31. We agree. Just speculation on my part. But it seems a logical
question to ask. If Bush was AWOL for such a long period of time, as he was, it is very reasonable to assume that he would be spending this time with Poppy who got him into TANG in the first place.

Remember, Bush obviously knew Poppy would protect him. And if he met with Poppy, he may well have met with Rove.

Sure. Just speculating. But based on what we know Bush is capable of, this is not wild speculation.

He has never fully accounted for his whereabouts for the time period in question.

Q Scott, you expressed some outrage this morning that Democrats are questioning whether President Bush shirked his military duty with the Texas Air National Guard. Is the White House trying to come up with any records or any eye-witnesses to demonstrate that he did show up for his last two years in Alabama?

MR. McCLELLAN: Terry, I would just say that it was a shame that this issue was brought up four years ago during the campaign, and it is a shame that it is being brought up again. The President fulfilled his duties. The President was honorably discharged.

Q Scott, can I follow that up?

MR. McCLELLAN: Do you have a follow-up?

<snip>

Weeeyyylll... Seems Ms. Norah did...

Q Scott, can I ask you about, again, the National Guard thing? As you know, the President was committed to a six-year term, and what's at issue is the last two years. And the commander of the Alabama unit in which Bush was assigned in 1972 said that Lt. Bush never showed. That is absent without leave, otherwise known as AWOL, which is the charge that the Democrats are making. Can you be specific then about those last two years which are in question --

MR. McCLELLAN: Norah, we already have been specific. We were specific four years ago when this shameful accusation was made. I think you need to go back and look at the facts. The President was honorably discharged. He fulfilled his duties. It is really sad that people are now stooping to this level once again. And people should condemn this.

Q So where was he, then, in that period when his commander says he did not appear?

He got into the TANG at the last minute after scoring 25% on the exam, skipping over the waiting line, because of his daddy..

He got a promotion in record time because of his daddy.

He got off from being charged for desertion because of his daddy.

He had his military records scrubbed because of his daddy.

Want more of this?
