Is there a renegade operation afoot? Have they threatened his family? Otherwise it makes no sense for him to take the shit this administration is dishing out on the intel community.

1. I'm wondering what the limit is on "falling on own sword"
for the good of the "team".

2. I think just once and for all
we need to stop thinking that every coward ass kissing politico is afraid of * - time to be a real man and stand up, right? George Tenent's knees must be scabbed up by now, just like some 7 year old's.

3. Tenet is a team player. Not the CIA team, the president's team.
He has and will sell out his operatives for the president in each and every instance. If you want the CIA to be defended, you will have to go a lot lower in the CIA than Tenet.

5. My theory is that Bush and Tenet must be holding very incriminating
evidence on each other. If not, why wouldn't Bush have deep-sixed the Clinton appointee after 9/11? Seems that would have been a very Rovian thing to do....sorta blame 9/11 on Clinton's poor choice for CIA. Instead, George says he "has confidence" in Tenet...why? Now, less than 3 years after 9/11, we have another intel failure....still no firing.

I am very interested in what will be said (and not said) in Tenet's speech tomorrow. He'll be defending the intel community, but will he point to OSP as the problem with the Iraq War?

9. Tenet Speech?
Story In Miami Herald:

WEAPONS SEARCH
CIA chief to defend agency in speech today
CIA Director George Tenet will speak on behalf of his agency, which has been criticized for exaggerating Iraq's weapons of mass destruction.
BY WALTER PINCUS AND DANA PRIEST
Washington Post Service

WASHINGTON - CIA Director George Tenet plans today to deliver a spirited and highly unusual public defense of his agency's prewar conclusions that Iraq possessed weapons of mass destruction, and will disclose previously secret success the CIA had in uncovering weapons programs in Libya and Pakistan, senior intelligence officials said Wednesday.

The speech, which officials said did not go through the usual Bush White House vetting process and was Tenet's decision alone to make, is a response to former U.S. weapons inspector David Kay and others who are criticizing the CIA for misjudging of Iraq's weapons threat, Bush's main rationale for going to war.

NO WHITE HOUSE ROLE

May be very interesting!
