AARP and the Medicare bill
I just got a notice about an article in the L A Times about the escalating cost of the new Medicare "drug benefit". Buried in the dtory is the following quote:
The higher cost estimate was "well known in the fall" said John Rother, who as director of policy and strategy for AARP helped draft the Medicare legislation. "It's not new, it's now just being made public", he added.
Sounds like a scandal, but the entire Washington establishment is a part of it. The AARP senior citizens lobby was up to its neck in the thing, as it now admits.

Are there going to be any more mass resignations of AARP membership once this really gets known?

Just wanted to let everyone know that the article mentioned was in the Jan 31 edition of the LA Times and titled "White House brushes aside Criticism over Medicare Plan". Very interesting read!
