Our next "immediate and credible threat"
Which, I feel, will build upon peoples fears as the election draws near. The press will scream that we can't throw out the current president with such a crisis looming, or some such sophistry, and the democratic nominee, already battered by charges of being "soft" on defense, will not respond. Or the response will be a lame one.

I weep for our future if we do not stop this administration.

Read the link and tell me where I am wrong. Please.

For the good of the Republic, ABB in '04!

3. North Korea is testing chem weapons against...
political prisoners, opponents, and convicts, according to the BBC. But Amnesty International says that they cannot confirm if it is happening or not.

2. if they try for N Korea, look for the military to say no
the BushCo junta may have gone too far in the insanely wrong direction.

apparently, Nixon wasn't given the nuclear codes the last couple of years.

i don't think Chimpy has those privleges.

6. that's a possibility, but with the way things are shaping up
it may not be an argument that they are going to be able to make. It's becoming evident to more and more people that
a) we've become less secure (and much more paranoid) with the Bush cabal at the helm;
and, b) That the irresponsible foreign polocies supported by this administration have caused serious damage to US credibility worldwide, and if the US is to continue to be a leader on the international stage, we are going to have to get back on the right track ASAP.

I'm seeing many articles by conservative columnists echoing these and other sentiments, so if the media trys to parrot the WH line, they will do nothing more than discredit themselves further.

And that's the other thing... when we DO restore the republic, the mainstream media needs to be held accountable for empowering this administration to new heights of deceit, IMHO.

8. the war college's recent report has more validity
than any talking head or Bush representative.

...and they say that Bush has just about decimated the ability of the military to go anywhere at this point.

the war college's examination of the current situation also noted that "war on terrorism" is the wrong approach, and is, in fact, a typical problem of fighting a new threat as though it were the previous conflict.

I believe Salon has a recent article about this as well from spymaster/novelist John Le Carre.

I think a correct and useful way to dismantle the Bush "perpetual war" machine would be to note that the EXPERTS as opposed to those who overrode both intel and the military before Iraq, do not think Bush is pursuing the correct strategy.

Another talking point is that Osama said he would bankrupt our nation...why is Bush helping him along in this quest?

The Bush regime has been so secretive, there is no way to know if they have been doing a good job.

there are many questions, however, about who they choose to invade and for what purpose, and the FACT that the war on Iraq has distracted valued resources which should rightfully be used to deal with the threat of terrorism.

in addition, the way they have waged this war deserves scrutiny, from the poor planning which endangered troops before the invasion even started, to the present when troops do not have the weaponry for training, the protective gear for battle...

and yet Halliburton gets shitloads of money...while at the same time failing to do basic things like provide a clean environment to prepare food for soldiers.

these facts are all on the record, all out there in mainstream news outlets.

now that dems have a way to get information out via the primary, they should make sure this information is available to the public.

the public will not be aware if it listens to tv news.

I think the candidates should say...I want to tell you what I will do, but I have to start by telling you what I will not do...and proceed to inform people about the things Bush has and has not done which are almost beyond belief...

including cutting vet benefits ON THE DAY he invaded Iraq.
