Colorado DU'ers -- is your Xcel bill outrageous?
My bill was $266 this month and I still owe about a total of $370 from two months.

Last year's average bill was around 120.

Did you guys get screwed too?

1. We've been pretty conservative
with the heat so far this season, but haven't opened the bill yet that contains the charges from that super-cold snap a couple of weeks ago.

I imagine it'll ruin my day, so I've been putting it off.

2. Too afraid to open the envelope.
I'll have to kick this back up this evening after I get home.

3. Well, I've done everything I can: replaced all light bulbs with those low
wattage/high output bulbs and I wear two sweaters inside when cold and if needed, those fingerless gloves (I have cold hands, anyway). I added an extra comforter to the bed and have allowed my pup to share the warmth! So, I'm hopeful it won't be too bad.

4. Yes It Is
I live with an electric throw on the couch, layers of clothes and space heaters. I can't stand being cold - makes me hurt more than I already do, due to my disability.

Last month bill was $220

They made good on their promise to raise 73%

5. Mine is around $185.
the pepsi center must have started charging extra to have a flaming xcel logo float around the ice at the avalanche game.

7. Well, no...
...but I moved this year from a place with central heat and air to an apartment with no central air and paid heat, so my bill dropped pretty substantially by comparison.
