Instead of bashing us southerners
You should encourage us. We're holding down the fort.

Believe it or not, there's a lot of progressives down here.

9. As a dyed in the wool Jerseyite .....
Yankee through and through .....

I MUST say: .... THANK YOU to all the southern boys and girls who are HOLDING DOWN THE FORT in the South .....

It isnt the SOUTH thats the problem: .... its the MINDSET of NONprogressive personalities that is the problem: in the SOUTH and elsewhere .....

Unfortunately: .... The South tends to harbor many of those people, but its UNFAIR to describe the SOUTH as the problem .... The NORTH has its share of idiots as well ......

It isnt the SOUTH thats the problem ...... Its the FUCKED UP WORLDVIEW, no matter its location ....

10. Hey, I LOVE southerners...........
It;s just the power holders who kind of make things a little less pleasant. I was raised in Texas.

and southerners are the NICEST people......salt of the earth. And they make the BEST pie on EARTH!

and they take care of their own.

11. I don't take too much offense by that.
I realize that people need someone to blame, and Southerners are traditional whipping boys -- not always without reason. However, those who are educated about circumstances tend to take a more charitable view of us. Our circumstances are complicated, but I don't think our condition is unique anywhere in rural America. The very reason we're often so reviled is that others see our traits in themselves.
