How Can There Be An O'Neill Investigation?
Here is the problem, as I see it, the Bush Administration faces with Paul O’Neil. Either they have no security or they have no case for an investigation.

In order for an investigation to be able to look at the papers Mr. O’Neil provided to the author I would have to think they would first have to admit that a crime has been committed, that they are missing 19,000 pages of classified documents. Because if no documents have been lost then there is no reason to look at the private papers of any individual, no matter who he or she might be.

That means simply that the Administration must admit they have such lax security for the members of the inner circle that a trunk load of paper could slip out the gate unnoticed, otherwise what is the basis for court order to see any documents? In order for him to have done wrong they will have to admit incompetence in the area (security) they call their strength.

1. The "trunk load of paper" was on a CD.
Not in a trunk.

4. The Treasury Dept gave O'Neill these documents
after he left. It would appear that this investigation is based on false accusations. But when did a little thing like lying ever get in the way of this WH?

5. O'Neill claimed the documents were cleared through Treasury
legal staff after he left. He further claims that he made know he was going to use the documents in a book.

I've read the first 1/3 of the book. It would seem that many of the documents must be notes to himself or from others regarding meetings and phone calls. For trivial events that happened several years ago there are fairly specific remembrances.
