Where is the outrage???
Edited on Tue Jan-13-04 10:30 PM by Cascadian
A couple of days ago, I watched the 60 Minutes piece on Paul O'Neill telling about how Bush and Company were planning to attack Iraq from the first day. Also the fact that Bush is really a puppet of Karl Rove and Dick Cheney. I was saying "YES!". "People have got to get ticked off after all of this. Bush is toast!" But fast forward to 48 hours later, O'Neill is quickly trying to back peddle all that he said, the Democrats are saying little, and the mainstream media is more interested in Michael Jackson and Paris Hilton. Would it had made any difference if Bush was messing around with a White House intern in the Oval Office like Clinton did? I still see people going about their merry ways. Dick Cheney came to my town and nobody was out protesting.Kudos to the hundreds of people in Portland that had the guts to go out there today. I salute you all!

Here you had a White House insider and he spilled out kernels of what has been going on in the past three years and nobody gives a ducket about it!

I am getting an unsettling feeling that Bush may still get a free pass for another four years in November if the Demos don't get their act together. I am also concerned that the Karl Rove spin machine and the Sovietized media in this country is going to work overtime to ensure it. Voter turnout in November will be low and Bush will win and the Republicans win a bunch more seats in both chambers of the Capitol.

I don't want to sound defeatist. I am not trying to be, but the people's complacency as well as lack of action from the Democrats is just beginning to make me wonder. In fact, I am seriously considering leaving the country if Bush gets reselected. Why stay and fight when we are outnumbered by right-wingers and dumbed down sheeple?

1. I'm not sure the Dems need to do anything with this
because they'll be accused of partisanship. I don't what effect this will have on Bush, but the book is out there now. These things don't happen overnight.

3. Yes he back-peddled.
I was never a fan of his but it did give insight into what is really happening in the White House. If people do vote for Bush and get him four more years, this country is toast!

12. What O'Neill said originally was quite similar to David Frum's assessment
of Bush a while back, and Frum back-pedalled just like O'Neill has...Hmmm...I wonder why?....

5. Hate to say I told you so but "I told you so."
People don't care. We are as apathetic a people as have ever walked the earth. We deserve what we get.

6. If that is true and I have a feeling it is...
then we are all in trouble. I will have to leave.America will no longer have any friends worldswide and possibly the World may go to war against the U.S. if it continues to carry on like this.

9. I don't want to stay either but unfortunately
I don't think I can leave. My step-sons father is an uninformed repub ( he considers himself repub because he is a white guy and thinks that that means he should be) and there is no way we are going to be able to leave the seattle area.

11. otoh....
remember, the horror that will unfold will NOT surprise you; or any DU'er! So it will be FUN watching the hatriots and the mediawhores who encourage them, try to fit the 800 pound gorilla (truth) into their beds every night hahaha! Do not be TOO DISCOURAGED, just try to associate with like minded in your area, and savour the suffering of the god damn fools when they realize they gave away their country!
It's almost worth the crap to know that one day the busheviks will clue in to what they've done, or allowed to be done, indeed caused to be done! I enjoy telling the fools they are members of a doomed species living on a dying planet, with a very angry Creator watching every self serving lie they swallow or spread around!
The root of the word IGNORANCE is ignore, which is an act of will. That's why bush is prez, cuz of ignorance (not stupidity)

7. My first post to DU was after the 60 minutes O'Neill
After the 60 minutes piece,I was very mad. Unfortunately, I had a feeling it would get dropped from the national spotlight.
The thing that is outraging people (especially conservatives)down here in Texas is the immigration issue.

8. Welcome to DU!
As far as the immigration/O'neill/moon-Mars deal goes, it is a little too much to fast for many Americans. We are not a stupid people, but we could do a lot to upgrade our collective attention span.

Even the neo-cons are hating this guy, when the fire gets stoked in the last 6 months leading up to the election, then these things will take on a life of their own.

10. Just what outrages a numb people?
To accept the level of corruption and criminality we are talking about, people will have to actually think and act instead of merely existing.

They'd have to come out of their own little worlds and look up and about instead of scurrying about with their heads down.

Americans have been beat down...and this took years of doing.

People will accept the big lie...as long as it requires nothing of them...instead of the truth everytime.

The truth requires action. The truth shatters illusions. The truth brings discomfort. The lie lulls and comforts....compete with that.
