Free look at CNN's bias
Wolf Blitzer: "O'Neill--Spilling secrets or spreading lies?"

I kid you not, that is how he referred to an upcoming segment about O'Neill's well-documented and fully-supported comments on the Bush administration. The media in our country is soooooo disgutingly biased.

2. I saw that and thought it was so stupid
Are we supposed to believe that the Justice Department is investigating secret documents that are lies??? Makes no sense. I guess Wolf just wants to make sure he is invited to Rummy's party next year.

Can CNN get any more pathetic? Where the hell is Ted Turner? I can not believe how CNN has changed! Is this why so many CNN reporters are leaving? Any ideas?

5. Welcome to DU, Rockholm
There are still a few decent reporters there, like Christiane Amanpour. Unfortunately those like Paula Zahn and Judy Woodruff or the aforementioned Wolf tend to have the lion's share of camera time and are on Bush-praise or Dem-bash mode 24/7.

Great to be among intelligent folks, for a change! I do like Christiane. Jon King seems OK. That's about it.

20. When I saw he had
Kelly Ann Conway on to back him up I almost lost my lunch. Ok, Wolf is my choice for Whore of the Year. He will never change and until someone in charge at CNN learns that he is a detriment he will stay where he is.

22. I watched and waited. He put up a graphic showing the results for THREE
seconds and spoke nothing about it except the usual "remember, this is not a SCIENTIFIC POLL"

I sent off an email ([email protected]) that hopefully will melt some of the wiring down in Atlanta.

8. How do sane people stomach these cable news networks?
They are 24 hour a day soap operas and shills for republicans. If Amanpour et al are such great reporters, why do they work for propaganda factories?

Here in Boston, but sadly would have to have it bundled along with Fox Sports Net. I don't know if can stomach giving Murdoch any more money. I have heard great things about NWI. Is it worth it?

is the only news channel I watch - it's excellent - very fair, no nonsense, I think it's the real deal - and when they have the National on, I never miss it (Canadian).

but I also get Trio and Ovation in that bundle, so it's worth it to me.

14. They Can't Investigate Without Their Producer's Approval
The producers are corporate lackeys; hence, no investigation.

Pretty simple.

15. "Context" and "research" don't seem to have a place anymore
Wolf knew the MoveOn ad was only one of thousands submitted by *outide* individuals, yet he purposely obfuscated this fact in favor of some righteous indignation over the very idea of such a comparison. We learn Wolf's opinion, but no facts concerning the video itself, which he did not show in its entirety, nor did he show it close enough for the text to be read.

25. I'll use this thread to ask again about CNN's pol. director, Tom Hannon --
Does anyone know anything about the man identified in articles as CNN's political director, Tom Hannon? Some helpful DUers found info that he's been at CNN for a number of years, but little else about his background, professional or otherwise. Googling turns up someone with his name as a "member participant" at a 1984 conference of the right-wing outfit founded by the Hunt brothers in Texas, Council for National Policy. Surely, it's not the same man -- although some posters have previously surmised it is:

http://www.namebase.org/sources/NV.html

Who is this guy, who, I assume, assigns Candy Crowley to Democratic candidates, enables Judy Woodruff, gives Novak air time, and employs, as CNN's "senior political analyst" a fellow of the American Enterprise Institute, Bill Schneider (assuming on the payrolls of both CNN and AEI)?

28. Why does Wolf still have a job?
He's the most horribly annoying, grating personality on cable news. He is just unbearable to watch, and thats without even factoring in his extremely obvious bias. Do people actually like him? Does your average American enjoy watching him speak in his robotic monotone, telling you how "not, I repeat, NOT" scientific his polls are?

29. CNN has really showed their bias with this O'Neill thing
I mean, it is FUCKING RIDICULOUS.

If you read what O'Neill actually SAID, he didn't "back down" from his statements. What he actually said was "yes, the Clinton administration had a plan to invade Iraq, but that was just a contingency plan." He was essentially trying to beat the Bush Admin. to the punch with their trying to claim that this whole thing was Clinton's fucking idea.

This quote from O'Neill says it all: "I'm amazed that anyone would think that our government ... doesn't do contingency planning."

Of course, CNN and all the other media whores spin it as O'Neill being a criminal liar who is reneging on his statements. FUCKING PIECES OF SHIT!
