Under Sec. of Defense says US hasn't killed thousands of innocent Iraqis
John Pilger, "Breaking the Silence"

http://100777.com/node/view/567

Start at 38:39 and listen through to Under Sec. of State John Bolton's comments, ending 43:58

I knew the US government was led by individuals who were two corpses short of "serial killer," but this documentary puts that fact in bold print.

1. I think they are being overcautious. The bulk of the voting class

does not really consider any Iraqis, and few if any Muslims in general to be "innocent," and sees killing thousands of them as a clear indication that America is imposing its will and winning the war on terror.

4. The Bushies see killing US troops as "progress"
So what's 10,000 dead Iraqis here or there? To the fundamentalist Bushies, death translates as "freedom."

like some nutty shit about the Koran and eagles, I can only agree.

I would add, they don't see the Iraqis or 2 billion Muslims as "people," and will happily advocate "extermination" just as 19th white Americans openly and quite unabashedly called for the extermination of the the Native Americans.

10. They already do. You can see it on the yahoo forums and others

every day, you can hear it in the streets.

You are right on the money about not seeing "them" as people.

That is the result of long years of hard work. You've got to be carefully taught.

11. The first European settlers to America showed very little interest
in their hosts, nor were they interested in learning much of anything from them.

The German govt. has said as much of the U.S. military in Iraq, that, as a result of US ignorance of, and outward apathy toward, Muslim culture, our military was unprepared for laying groundwork for any stability in the country whatsoever.

9. Sadly you are probably right. I've heard so many...
...callous statements regarding the loss of civilian life in the ME, it's almost a pathological indifference to Arabs and Muslims.

2. I didn't listen
to the clip but I'm guessing the administration doesn't recognize the existence of an organism called "Innocent Iraqi" and therefore US forces could not have killed any?

5. Under Sec. of Defense Feith said "innocent people"
...that the US was not responsible for the deaths of thousands of innocent people. But the clip is about the US invasion of Iraq.

So, in that light, you're correct.

8. "We don't do body counts:" Tommy Franks
That quote is a keeper. I'm going to use it in my next letter.

In the timeframe I'd provided above is another (former) diplomat's statement that Powell had said the same thing as Franks, but the documentary didn't provide the footage. I'd sure like to find Powell's exact quote.

Pilger sites studies that say 10,000 innocent Iraqi deaths.
