Anyone Know any Repubs who Have Woken Up?
The crimes and follies of this administration are getting hard to keep track of:

Historic surpluses turned to historic deficits
The trashing of the environment
The trampling of the Constitution
The Talibanesque judicial agenda
The war based upon a lie and soldiers dying daily
"Mission Accomplished" dress-up day on an aircraft carrier
No-bid contracts for corporate buddies
Slashing veteran's benefits
Massive intelligence failure and fraud
Cowardly passing of the accountability buck
Stonewalling to protect Saudi connections and god knows what else
A Pentagon wager-on-terror scheme (still trying to grasp this one)

I could go on. And on.

The question is: Does anyone know any wingers who have turned away from Bush?

I don't. The conservatives I know are still defending this fraud.

But you can sense that many of them know the jig is up. Their defenses are growing more feeble.

Idiots.

1. Yes. Republicans, but not wingnuts.
A have a friends who are life long Republicans and detest Bush. I never encourage them to change to their affiliation. I think their opposition is more effective as registered Republicans than if they were just "whining " Dems.

2. Some progress
I don't expect to see any right-wingers move at all. But one fellow I consider conservative has recently said he'd back a full Congressional inquiry into why we went to war in Iraq. Others are calling the terrorist futures market "idiotic" and other names.

3. My repuke friends LOVE him . . . I don't get it.
The list of his atrocities is well established. They LOVE his John Wayne manner and his tax cuts. All the other stuff is "puppy shit" as they say. Repukes orgasm over tax cuts, program cuts, and foreign wars.

5. I know of one
A co-worker who is very conservative and thought highly of Bush when he was elected. This 55 yr old fellow actually told me that Bush is the worst president in his lifetime. He fears and detests Ashcroft. He will not vote Democratic, but he will not vote for Bush again...

The rest of the repugs I know still give the un-elected moron the benefit of the doubt.

7. Nope
I don't, sadly. I was hoping what Bush has done would at least turn away my step mother and father, after all, they worship Republicans in the White House like the latest 'fad'. I mean, once they're out, it's George who, with an exception of Reagan and Nixon. They actually seem to love him more than ever.

8. Yes, I know several Cheap Labor folks who now HATE the Chimp!!
These are not wingnuts - but one of them now goes to EVERY single anti-war/antianything Chimp demonstrations there are!! One thing I'm certain of, regardless of what ANY bullshit polls say - * has not GAINED ANYONE - he has only lost - and he has lost a helluva lot of support! He lost last time in a close election. This time, he will lose in a landslide unless it is rigged!!

9. several of them were quoted in this article:
imho these quotes are dynamite.

bush losing support of retired vets

``...
"He pats us on the back with his speeches and stabs us in the back with his actions," said Charles A. Carter of Shawnee, Okla., a retired Navy senior chief petty officer. "I will vote non-Republican in a heart beat if it continues as is."

"I feel betrayed," said Raymond C. Oden Jr., a retired Air Force Chief Master Sergeant now living in Abilene, Texas. ...

Registered Republican James Cook, who retired to Fort Walton Beach, Fla., after 24 years in the Air Force, said he is abandoning a party that he said abandoned him. "Bush is a liar," he said. "The Republicans in Congress, with very few exceptions, are gutless party lapdogs who listen to what puts money in their own pockets or what will get them re-elected." ...

"I voted for the president because of the promises," said Floyd Sears, a retired Air Force master sergeant in Biloxi, Miss. "But as far as I can tell, he has done nothing. In fact, his actions have been detrimental to the veterans and retired veterans. I'm very disappointed about the broken promise on medical care."

11. Not really
I know three people who voted for Bush II in the last election who have promised to not vote for him again, but they weren't what I'd call "Republicans". They were just easily fooled and are wiser for it now. </pats self on back>

12. My mother is coming around
And she isn't one to give up long held beliefs.

It took 10 years to make her realize that the drug war causes more harm than the drugs do. And that's a no-brainer to anyone that's informed.

14. I've seen hopeful posts on other boards
I shared some posts recently from other boards of converts. There was the group of unionized workers who were appalled at his policies--some of them were nonvoters who plan to vote against him next election. There was the mother who lost a son in Iraq who was interviewed on TV (I read this on a board as well) and who said to the camera that Bush had lied to her. Then there's others on a board I frequent who say that they voted for him but won't in '04.

He is losing lots of support. I've seen quotes from the financial industry (from the book It's Still the Economy Stupid) where they said everytime he opens his mouth the stock market tumbles. I also recall hearing that many republicans did not support the tax plan and many of his more extreme policies but felt pressured to go along. I think that those who were afraid to resist because of what seemed like Bush's inpenetrable power, will be less afraid and will also think twice about voting for him in '04.

I really don't think that he can win next year and I bet you that you will soon see some more repub candidates on the ticket as a result.

15. Yes, several of my veteran friends are
very unhappy with Bush. The treatment of vets and the way he is fucking over the military is what has turned them against him. Also they do not like how he has tried to blame the intelligence community. All the vets on my list are ex spooks. many have just stopped praising Bush. Their silence speaks volumes.

One just sent a letter to his board of elections voicing his opposition to unauditible voting machines. He sent me a copy of the letter.

The one that turned the most is an old time Texas Republican. The one that sent the letter is from Bakersfield. Imagine that!

17. I'm afraid one of my friends
has moved further to the right and she voted for Gore. Her husband is a "Bushman". I think she's afraid of terrorists not being rounded up and prosecuted, getting blown up, etc. She doesn't see the crap this admin is doing to the US and veterans.
