Foggy Bottom and The Pentagon
Do you remember what Conservatives said about Morale in the Military during the Clinton Years? Some of you may have blanked it out, which is understandable. But they said words to the effect that the average military was so outraged by President Clinton that they were close to mutiny and that morale had plumetted. If we cared about the welfare of our nation we would get rid of Clinton so the soldiers could feel proud about America again.

Now of course this story was largely fictional--and over emphasized the words of a few malcontents.

So now we have another President and another Organization that doesn't seem to fond of him, according to Conservative columnist Clifford D. May (article here --> http://www.townhall.com/columnists/GuestColumns/May20030710.shtml )

Insiders will tell you about the anti-Bush cartoons that are passed around – and even displayed -- at Foggy Bottom. A friend of mine, a long time FSO, recently suggested to a colleague that if he couldn’t support the President’s policies, the principled thing to do was to resign. “Easy for you to say,” came the reply. “You’re not putting two kids through college.”

Now that the shoe is on the other foot, the Conservatives are calling for a harsh clampdown on the State Department--such disdain is not to be tolerated.

Let's not get carried away by partison fever though; I stipulate that the State Department is, for the most part, doing it's best to implement their orders. While they may not like Bush, they have a job to do, and they are doing it. Similarly the Military under Clinton was for the most part loyal to the country and did their work very well.
