Bush is a Bigot

Editorial: Anti-gay bigotry

An editorial
July 16, 2004

President Bush is a bigot.

That's tragic.

What's worse, however, is that he has chosen to insult Wisconsinites by expounding upon his bigotry in Wisconsin, which has a tradition of tolerance and common sense.

Bush identified himself as a bigot during this week's campaign swing through eastern Wisconsin, when he attempted to justify his support for the so-called "Federal Marriage Amendment" (FMA). The FMA would, for the first time since slavery days, use the Constitution to require discrimination against a group of Americans.

Gay and lesbians have been marrying in Canada for a year now, and in Massachusetts for several months. There has been no change in the stability of the "traditional" family anywhere that same-sex marriages have been allowed. Nor has there been any decrease in respect for the institution of marriage - marriages between heterosexuals have continued to be performed, without interruption or any problems.

1. Great article...
thanks for posting. Finally, someone brave enough in the media to point out his bigotry.
