Talking with Thom (Hartmann)

from Seven Days:

Talking with Thom
Fair Game

By Shay Totten <08.24.11>

Has America’s left wing found its Rush Limbaugh?

Thom Hartmann now hosts one of the most successful such programs — of any political stripe — in the United States. His internationally syndicated, progressive-oriented talk show originated in Vermont.

For the fourth consecutive year, “The Thom Hartmann Show” is on the “Heavy Hundred” list in TALKERS, a talk-radio industry publication. This year, though, it ranked eighth, which makes Hartmann’s the most influential progressive voice on the radio — ahead of such personalities as Stephanie Miller, Neal Boortz and Ed Schultz, who is now host of an MSNBC show.

No surprise, since Hartmann reaches close to three million listeners each week on radio alone. A TV version of his radio show reaches another 55 million homes worldwide. Not bad for a show that started at the Hartmanns’ dining room table in Montpelier. ...........(more)

1. Love Thom Hartmann! Learn something every time I listen or watch
he is televised for 2 of his radio show hours on Free Speech TV and also has an additional hour that he does on RT television that FSTV televises.
I usually listen on the computer to KPOJ in Portland Oregon.

2. No.
Gush Pfleghmball pulls stuff out of his abscessed ass and blast faxes from Frank Luntz.

Hartman does his homework.
To compare the 2 is like comparing a lovely roast to a steaming pile of shit.

The only thing I don't like about Thom is his shilling for the rip-off "Buy GOLD! Be able to EAT when the Pocky-Lips comes!" company.

3. My right wing mother heard Thom on the radio back in '05 or'06.
"He's very reasonable," she said. I damned near fell out of my chair. That was high praise coming from her.

His book, "We the People: A Call to Take Back America" should be required reading for all Americans age 10 & over. It's a wonderful civics refresher course, done in a comic book fashion. It's a quick read - kids will like it too.

4. The Thom Hartmann show is a "must listen" for progressives.
His perspective, understanding of the facts and ability to cut through RW propaganda make him a great "gateway" show for converting conservatives who are low on facts and big on talking points.

Radio show on these stations-

6. Thom Hartmann is great! He needs way more exposure.
He is able to present the liberal view in such a clear, concise way and provide historical background as well. He doesn't froth at the mouth and count on hatred and fear to boost his ratings like the right does. Too bad that kind of shtick seems to sell more than Hartmann-type sensibility and of course our corporate lords won't sponsor any shows that aren't hosted by their brownshirt spokespeople (Limbaugh, Beck, etc.)

7. Please do not compare Thom to Rush..
Thom is a very intelligent, well versed Progressive. Rush is an idiot and a liar. IMO, Thom is to the radio (and T.V.) what Bernie is to the Congress. Bernie does a weekly Q&A on Thom's program.
