Aylie Fifer spent hours emailing back and forth with an advertising client, trying to determine whether to schedule a meeting this week. In between, she kept in touch with a number of other people on her job.
So much for her weekend.
Fifer is one of a growing number of Americans who find that work is becoming a seven-day-a-week proposition. Mobile technology, the soft economy and the growth of service businesses all are blurring the lines between work and home.
"I think in general, more people work on weekends," said Fifer, 35, vice president and account director at Point to Point Inc. in Beachwood. "With technology you can stay connected a lot easier."
